Our MG ZS long range is due its 2nd. service in September, I asked the service centre about being able to use Tesla chargers in the future, I attach their reply, I hope this helps other ZS owners who would like to use Tesla chargers going forward.
Sorry I have been caught out by technology and find I am unable to attach a photo of their reply. last went to school in the 60s.
I will type the reply I received:
"Unfortunately to upgrade to use Tesla chargers requires a new control unit and not a software update.
The charges for this are as follows:
EVCC Module £264.85
Labour to fit and configure £156
Total £420.85 inc vat

Gosh - that’s really expensive. What I don’t understand, is that some MG ZS’s charge fine on Tesla open super chargers, and others don’t. I tried mine yesterday, and got the car not detected message on the app.
I have only used public EVSE’s two or three times, so I’m certainly not planning to pay out that sum for the privilege of paying a lower amount per kWh offered by Tesla.

Thank you for the information.

It's a long story. This set of FAQs tells it from the MG5 point of view, but the ZS situation is quite similar.

For my ZS 23 plate, it's a software update I'm told, and they want £95 for the pleasure at Waylands Oxford.

It's a software update for ZS gen.2/facelift models - gen1 cannot use at all (unless they have found a way by replacing the EVCC unit as per above ?

Got mine updated May last year and have been happily (and cheaply) Tesla-charging on my long trips on their 'open chargers' which you can easily find in the Tesla app ...
