The car as a person - or possibly a pet

Mine has been named by my daughter and grandchildren. Not a pet but another entity close to my youth and learning in life and business, It's called 'Enterprise' after Star Trek, all eras as I'm that old....

It even greets me in the morning with 'The Bridge is yours Captain'. I have even had custom car mats with the the driver side embroidered 'Captain' in red.

Hang on I think the men in white coats are knocking at my door.

Nah, I think that quirky and sweet.

It's a hobby indeed.... I spend time balancing my solar export between my car, battery and home, plus discharging my battery to my car but ensuring I leave enough to run the home until the next day. Add planning trips (charging), thrill of driving and this forum in too and sure... it's a hobby

It didn't actually take me that long to do a lot of CDs, and I was doing the full-fat editing of the track names and artists' names and so on. And once it's done it's done, you can add more music but the music you have is there forever.

This was from people who are buying rainwater collection systems to avoid getting limescale spots when they wash their cars, with routines that last for two days. And the car is just going to get dirty again, guys!

350 pages... That's an executive summary lol. I did buy both manuals in paper version and read them through a couple of times.

The Boeing 737 has an 800 page flight crew training manual, a 700 page flight operations manual, a 200 page flight management computer manual, a 200 page Quick reference handbook (for failures and emergencies) and a 200 page flight deck systems manual, and that's just for starters.

The Airbus is actually probably a better comparison though, that's fully fly by computer - the pilot requests something like a pitch change or a bank to turn, and the computer thinks about it, and usually implements it - but only if it agrees... And neither aircraft have a 'push to start' button or an ignition key. Reminds anyone of the MG4?

Interesting. How many hours training would a pilot get when switching to an Airbus?
How much training does a dealer give when handing over a new car?

My car is called Chippy, which was my nickname at school as it has the letters HCP in the registration and those letters also appear in my surname.

On a completely unrelated matter, I am fascinated by the number of messages that you have posted. You have been with us for 52 days and have posted 1,254 messages which is over 24 a day. It puts me to shame ? and I have been here for just over two years.

I think RichardC has stumbled over an as yet unsubstantiated conspiracy here. Is Rolfe an AI bot planted here by SAIC employee Lin Chi Wui, who? is enabled to monitor this forums complaints and report back to customer services in China without MG involvement thus not rendering them liable for any future legal claims. (We do not know anything m.lud , we do not read posts.)
The mounting evidence is that Rolfe replies and typing skills are to fast for a human to perform and as previously mentioned to copious in a short time frame.
There is also the defence of some of the features in the MG4 a lot of us loathe an obvious tactic to unconsciously get us to compliance and acceptance.
Lin Chi is very through , he even gave Rolfe RSPB membership which was rescinded several years ago to substantiate the duck incident ( library photos ) and has created a convincing back story again to make let our guard down on our MG experiences.

Oh, he was one extra-special boy. Rescued from a family who were going to have him put down because of a flea allergy when he was about three. When he was fourteen he won best non-pedigree in Britain at the GCCF Supreme cat show in Birmingham. This is a bit like winning Miss World in your 50s.

I'm a fan of work-rounds for the problematic bugs, as a sane alternative to getting permanently bent out of shape over relative trivia, an attitude that could spoil the enjoyment of the car. (I'm also compiling a list of said bugs to present to my dealer in the near future.)

My first car was a 1954 Morris Oxford side valve. Every car since has been a fantastic upgrade, I just drive them and learn their “characteristics” as I go!

I hope no offense was taken , I was trying to express in a humorous way to amount of effort you put into this forum which many could regard as super or non human.
You have defended AEB which when it works well and as intended will be a useful addition to road safety, unfortunately as a few ( how many is subjective ) have found, its not there yet. Oh, no offence at all! I defended the one time my car did the AEB, but I've said that it's on probation. I can see why it did it, and I'm inclined to forgive it on this occasion. If it had stopped for no reason on a level crossing with a train coming, I'd certainly be of a different mind.

I'm just posting for the fun of it. I should be writing a book but I've got a bit of a block at the moment. Besides, it's a glorious day.

And I just discovered an opera I want to see is on in a cinema in Edinburgh in less than four hours so I better shut up and get organised to get Caliban to take me as far as a suitable bus.

Today I feel like the wilful trickster Loki would be appropriate. 9 out of 10 times it charges to 80%, then every now and again, when it thinks it's lulled me into a sense of false security, it ignores the set limit and whacks it up to 100%.

From now on, I'm going to have to set the charger to switch off after a certain time, just in case the car doesn't.

Also, I type fast, and I like engaging in conversation about my new hobby - driving and running an EV.
