Well today my 2021 Exclusive SR just had its third service and first MOT so this seems a good time to write a retrospective.
I don't do so many journeys now I'm retired so I've only reached 10,286 miles in this car. Though the miles are low, they are nevertheless represented by a fairly even mixture of urban, rural and motorway driving so my experiences are still relevant.
All of the charging on my car has been done at home, initially using the granny and subsequently at 7kW using my HyperVolt Home v2.0 EVSE. I have always been on the standard Octopus Go tariff so charging takes place in a 4 hour window overnight and I still have the dubious honour of never having been been awake whilst my car was being charged!
Energy consumption has been recorded in detail over most of the three years and this has shown the seasonal variation to range from a low of 3.3 miles/kWh in December 2022 to a high of 4.7 miles/kWh in August 2023. I've found a year on year improvement in range but I can't attribute this to anything specific beyond the fact that I'm more in tune with the car over time.
So what problems did I encounter over the three years?
Only one really and that was semi self inflicted (factory reset of the Infotainment Unit broke the SatNav). The SatNav was fixed but a residual "feature" of the reset was a change of the dashboard temperature display from Centigrade to Fahrenheit. My local dealer has been singularly unsuccessful in resolving this but in truth it is an utterly trivial issue as temperature is also displayed on the Infotainment Unit and that still displays in Centigrade. I lose no sleep over this.

My service costs have been:
Year 1 - £63.08
Year 2 - £165.72 (inc Brake Fluid change)
Year 3 - £157.04 (inc MOT which was a straight pass as expected)
All servicing has been done by a small family run firm AE Wilcox of Wickwar in South Gloucestershire who through no fault of their own had their sales franchise removed earlier this year.

Battery SOH after 3 years was today recorded at 100% but that's no great surprise to me as I check it myself on a regular basis. Time alone doesn't seem to impact the algorithm which determines displayed battery degradation.

Overall I've been extremely happy with my Mk1 MG5. I'm very glad that it didn't get caught up in NCAP shenanigans so it lets me get on and drive the car without interfering and that's just the way I like it.

Yep, very similar to me, got my MK1 MG5 2021 Exclusive SR in Jun 2021. Very happy with it. Done almost 40k miles now, frequent visits to the Peak District (about 60 miles) and 18 miles to work 3 days a week (and back again). Just had first MOT. It does go through front tyres though! Charging at night on the Wallbox 7kW charger fills up half a "tank" costing £2.03 a go, so happy with that....

The PFL versions have been good reliable solid cars, I expect the FL versions will prove to be so as well.
3 years and you've never been far enough to need to charge away from home, that's some feat. Do you think you ever will ?

I have only charge mine at home ! in the 3 years that I have owned it !
I have done just under 20k in 3 years and like you no problems and minimal running costs.
because I live in hilly west wales and use kers 3 mode the crap tyres supplied on the front only lasted about 13000mile (not good ) but I suspect they get double wear with Kers.
otherwise very pleased and enjoying the lack of nanny stated devices that would be a pain where I live.
Enjoy the lack of sophistication and a max charge of 2p per mile !!! (good old octopus)

I was there today for my first service on my MG4. Can't believe they've lost their franchise. Nothing was too much trouble from them. It's how an MG dealer should be.

It is tragic the way MG seem to think that the big name dealers are the way to go. They are generally useless and are all mouth and trousers. They have no idea on customer care and the "trained staff" often don`t have the skills to open a bonnet let alone repair the car! VW?AUDI/SKODA did the same 25 years ago. I do hope that our local dealers O.C. Davies don`t go the same way, if they do go it will be a total loss of MG sales in west Wales.

Oh how I wish I could have had a similar experience with my 3 year old MG HS Hatchback
1.5 T-GDI PHEV Exclusive. Just failed it's First MOT, after 9000 miles, the rear discs needed to be replaced. Don't know what material they're made of but obviously underspecified for their purpose. Never been able to charge this vehicle from my Ohme home charge point. Can't wait to get rid of this car. New BMW on order
