Tips before setting off on first long journey

Our first long trip is up to Kendal in a week or so. Hopefully M5, M6 will be as easy as it gets, although at a first glance the number of chargers at the service stations is less than I was expecting ?.
Below may be of use for you, a few people mentioned when I was on the EV6 forum.

As promised, I wrote up our journey experience on my blog.

Link here if anyone is interested.
Thanks for the write up, glad to hear everything went well for you. Know that you have that experience, your next long trip should be a doddle, famous last words!

We had a week away in April and one in June, I made sure both cottages had ev chargers.
The first one was available via the Monta app, 50p kwh but no idle fees. Although a bit pricy, we were in a very rural area and gave peace of mind.
The second one was paid directly to the owners at 23p kwh and only cost me £20 for the week.

We are in the final stages of preparations before putting our gites onto the holiday market. Looking up the regulations for re-selling electricity especially for EV usage we believe we can only offer it at the price we paid. To re-sell at a profit is illegal unless you are licensed to do so. Currently our summer prices are 18 cents kwh daytime and 13 cents 10pm-6am. The Blue standard tariff is around 25 cents in France, so from a private vendor, legally you should not have to pay over that.

Interesting!

I don't know what the rules are in the UK. However, I expect that the property owner is indeed paid at their electricity cost rate with the app provider taking the extra expense and fees.

I wonder if the property owner got a free charger installed in exchange for allowing this charging.

I was disappointed, thinking that charging at the destination would be cheap.

But as long as the cost matches the local public chargers then people will still use them.

I checked with the owners of the properties, as the t&cs do vary. Last year we went to a property that was a flat rate £50 in hand before I could use the charger. I made sure I got my money's worth, keeping the EV6, as it was then, fully charged after each day's outing. It worked out just over the £50.
