Tomato Energy

Ditto here!

Had an email from Tomato CS this morning (twice, actually), thanking me for sending in my meter reading (sent October 1st, as requested in an earlier email from them) and I replied to ask about a bill, since it is now fast approaching two months since transferring to them. Received a reply that the figures would be passed to the billing team!
This does seem a little odd to me. If they need your meter readings sent in, how do they sort out peak & off peak?

I got the same request, just ignored it, (auto email aimed at non smart meter users?). My usage was calculated correctly on my bill, which I have just been advised by email will be coming out of my account on Friday.

I will be starting a gofundme page soon for all you that are TE users and not paying.

Don't worry mystreet, I got the email this morning, and I must say, it's refreshingly less money than I was paying to Eon. :)

Ive just received my bill for September, it's absolutely spot on what I expected and a good bit cheaper than Octopus Intelligent GO. I'm really happy with TE and I do hope they make a success of their venture. My business supply changes to them from EDF on 28th October, EDF were raising the Standing Charge to £8.25 per day and 32p kWh, Tomato zero standing charge and 24p kWh, no brainer.

Scottish Power have just confirmed my export too, Octopus initially confirmed they were happy to take my export but then my export data disappeared from my account. Numerous emails to Octopus didnt get a reply so off I went to Scottish Power who have been very responsive, pay a half decent 12.1p kWh so all good.

£8.25?! What a rip off. Must go to show many people being mugged off by the big firms, specially with the scare tactics to lock in all the time.

Even prior I've been on tracker for last 3 years and saved loads over fixing. However with ev charging fixing for the 5p evening is great and I can run the dehumidifier at night to dry the washing.

Signed up on my mobile and the page did not load correctly and I did not even see the options to 'improve your tariff '

Happy with what I got.

But not happy that it appears that I am the only one paying.
Might be worth calling/emailing them, I forgot set the EV option when I actually signed up so contacted them about it shortly after.

I wasn't sure if they had changed it as the tariff hadn't changed in mywatts but Just got a bill through, and it is for the EV version the tariff so it looks like they did do it for me just that the tarrif page in mywatts didn't update.

My business account has appeared in MyWatts in readiness for my changeover on the 28th which is excellent service. EDF are currently going to be in front of the ombudsman if they don't back down from their ridiculous stance. My business premises have been undergoing a major refurb (£450,000) so its not a small job. The contractors whilst installing new drains happened to hit our supply cable taking out 2 phases of our supply and whole of the market place. Northern Powergrid were on site promptly and worked from 15:30 though to 02:00 to get us back on supply, unfortunately, due to the scaffolding we had on the outside of our building, they had to provide a feed from a generator at the rear of the premises. We were on this supply for 3 weeks, the supply into the building via our incoming cable which of course goes through the meter. EDF are wanting to charge us for the 3 weeks of energy (about £950) used in that 3 weeks. I have provided video evidence of the generator arriving, the meter reading when it started up, the meter reading when we went back on grid supply and confirmation documents from Northern Powergrid but still EDF say we have to pay. They can go and whistle, they didn't provide the energy, theyre not getting a penny for it.
Apologies for the slightly off topic rant.

I have just compared Septembers bill with my bill from Eon last year.

Electricity alone is £15 cheaper this year. However, last year we were using gas for cooking and heating, so comparing the whole bill, in September we saved £67.80 with Tomato. Result. :)

30 days now since I switched from Octopus Go to Tomato Lifestyle EV. What's happened so far?........nothing!

Took a meter reading late evening (about 11pm) on 30/9 as requested, sent it to Tomato.

Octopus seem to have a smart meter reading from the changeover point midnight 30/9 which is 1kwh more than my 11pm reading and shows on my account online.

However, Octopus have only billed me up to 1am 30/9, and the Octopus app shows no usage for that day, so I'm still waiting to hear what that 23 hours cost me.

Tomato seem to have no idea how much I've used; mywatts shows estimated usage only (completely wrong, just the same pattern every day) from 1-16 October, nothing since.

The Loop app shows me the half-hourly usage recorded by my gas and electricity smartmeters, so I know what I'm using and can calculate what it will cost, even though Octopus and Tomato don't seem to be able to do that for electricity.

I guess that one day my bills will come. Luckily the data from the Loop app means I'll be able to check them.

I’m with Octopus but didn’t realise they just did gas lol. I’ll have a look.
You will not find a gas only tarrif on Octopus. If you leave Octopus 🐙 for Tomato 🍅 the gas just stays with Octopus 🐙

That's what happened with me. And just to be safe I have provided a manual meter reading on the 1st of the month, so one due Friday

@MG Madness
When I switched to Tomato Energy from Octopus, I presumed I couldn’t continue to have just gas from Octopus. I spent a frustrating afternoon trying to find an alternative supplier - I settled for Scottish Power.

Like many others, I left my gas with Octopus (tracker), I did ask them if they were happy to continue the gas and they said yes. Thats said, they also said they were happy to continue my export but then stopped all the data going into my account, didnt answer any emails or follow up phone calls so I moved SEG to Scottish Power.

Sounds like Octopus 🐙 was sulking a bit.
🙂👍
