Tyre pressure sensors issue

Tyre pressure sensor should not be MOT failure to start with - as far as I know. £300 for it - who quoted this??? Please name and shame them.

Again from memory, they last certain amount of time and then need to be replaced, seen it somewhere in the instruction manual.

More to do with the warning light on the dash?

Use the dealer who sold the car for MOT and warranty for sender?
wouldn't work with my local MG garage, only some small garages would tend to "fix" the dashboard light, pass MOT and the light would be back on next week ...
warranty should cover sensors but I think they might be consumables so no 7 years cover ...

h) Tyre pressure monitoring system malfunctioning or obviously not workingMajor
this was taken from the you-gov mot testers manual
