Hi, I read an article in The Daily Telegraph today discussing the rapid rate of tyre wear on models such as the VW ID range and Tesla cars.

I wanted to post that my experience with my first generation ZS EV with Michelin tyres has been the opposite. I have now driven nearly 70,000 kms and the tyres are still in good condition and I’m hoping to get another at least 10,000 out of them.

Is this an unusual experience? Roads and driving conditions are not considered always to be the best but I have driven the car up and down the east coast pretty much as far north as I could go with chargers.

Sincerely

The article is a load of rubbish. The only way to get tyre wear like that would be to do wheelies every time you pulled away.

Isn't the telegraph biased towards fossil fuels?

Yes the most anti EV out there, they pick articles off here.

After 2 years and 22,000 mile I've lost 3mm of tread. I drive normally so don't take it easy, so that makes it about about 7,000 miles per mm tread, so from 8mm new to 2 when replaced that's about 42,000 miles. The tyres are Michelin Premacy 3's factory fitted.

I’ve always found cheap tyres last longer than more upmarket ones. I think the rubber is more akin to plastic hence some of the qualities of cheap tyres.

I don’t think the tyres MG supply are likely to be high grade - acceptable but not soft and grippy as some of the more expensive brands I’ve had over the years.

My ZS EV has 23000 on the clock.
Just passed its first MOT with flying colours.
Asked about possible tyre and I was told another 2 years at least.
My last car on its first mot 22000 miles required 4 new tyres.( Honda Jazz ).
Very pleased with these Michelin tyres and would replace with same when required.
