It's coming up to 5 years since we left the UK for Spain, I'm curious to know what folk are paying for 'cheap rate' electricity nowadays. Not dedicated EV charging rates, general overnight costs.
Anyone ?

Thanks to johnb80, a lot of us have moved to Tomato Energy which is 5p/kWh from midnight to 6 AM.

Check out the thread; Tomato Energy

Just an update, you can select certain options which change the timings.

We get 5p from 1am to 6am, then 13p from 09:30 to 11:30 and 20:30 to 22:30. Standard rate at all other times of 23p

Shouldnd't that be 12am? Mine is.

No, definitely 1am. Do you get the two cheaper periods during the day?
Yes. Off peak definately starts at 12am. Check the myWatts app and flip between "Used kWh" and "Cost". From midnight my cost per kWh drops to 5 pence.

Interesting, so you only get 5 hours at 5 pence/kWh.

Mine looks like this;

Are you on the "Tomato Lifestyle Fixed TP July 2024-V1-Tariff-EV"?

Are these all EV only tariffs, though?

Didn't the OP want non-EV ones?

Ecotricity used to offer a storage heater overnight tariff but I couldn't work out their website to confirm.

I think you need an (old, being discontinued) economy 7 meter for it, and it depends on region.

However, looking at the Eon document below it is roughly 14p for the overnight. However, you then pay more (30p) for the rest of the time.

We were on Octopus Flux in the past, which had a cheap overnight price of 14p, so similar.
Octopus offer 7p per kWh from 23:30 until 6:30 for all use, EV and household, their day rate then goes up to 25.04p per kWh.
Having read other replies it seems Tomato offer better rates but slightly shorter time of midnight to 6:00
Hope this is useful

This is quite a weird thread for an EV forum, since it is about tariffs for non-EV owners.

You'd think anyone on here would either have an EV or plans to get one.

However, in the spirit of the OP, I saw this video about a new tariff, which might be the best deal out there for those without an EV:

haha cheers for the link bam-bam
Do have an EV though, we are comparing charge prices, Octopus seem to be all over the place if you look at the two images, some on 7p and others on a higher rate with Intelligent Octopus Go. However I do also charge my solar battery overnight if it’s been a poor day for charging.

Yes, the home battery is more probably more valuable with an EV tariff than it is with solar. Extra valuable when you've got both of course.

I assume the different prices are due to different regions.

You need a 2nd generation smart meter.

I use Utility Warehouse and have a rate of 5.14p @ night (12:30 to 7:30) but around 35p for the remainder - not exactly sure. We have home battery so don't use much peak rate electricity. That Tomato rate sounds good though!
