USB disk identification failure on iPhone

But carplay is working on my wife's iPhone. How come?
I had the same problem. I realized that my iPhone’s charging port was full of dust, which prevented the connector from making a perfect connection. I went to the Apple Store, and they cleaned it for free in just two minutes. After that, everything started working properly again. They explained that CarPlay needs a perfect connection to be recognized, unlike simple charging where the contact can briefly interrupt and then resume without major issues.

I've had that a few times before but sporadically. I assumed I wasn't letting the car boot up properly before plugging it in and after trying again a couple more times it seems to work fine again. Just one of those things.

Nah it's not that. My wife phone is still fine.

Also worth taking a dish sponge (the slightly abrasive spontex type) to the ends of the cable too- that was my issue, worked like a dream after all dried off. The lightning connector elements are shocking for crud building up over time.
