Hi, going camping in Northumberland in July and it’s a non electric pitch. I only really need power to pump air beds up and have read about MGs having a V2L feature. How much does the adapter cost and how much would it drain the battery?

I got a cheap adapter off ebay for less than £30.

It worked with our MG4 and could power the router and got the kettle to boil while we were having electrical work done.

However, I'm not sure I would want to use it in the rain. If you want a weatherproof then you might have to pay more - the official ones are well over £100 I think.

Search power inverter on Amazon or your favourite site. You can pick up a 300w one for £30-35.

Or buy a battery pump...

Due to a chip shortage Before you buy an adaptor I suggest that you get confirmation from your MG dealer that your specific vehicle has the capability to deliver V2L. Due to a chip shortage many vehicles including my 2023 ZSEV are not and MG have had to supply a replacement module to enable this function under warranty.

Assuming you have a FL MG5 then the cheap adaptor I got from ebay worked fine. I bought a good quality extension lead to plug into it and was using it for an induction hob a kettle and a toaster (not all at the same time). I was only camping for 3 nights and used about 10% of the battery. The car has a limit of how much it will use on the V2L so you don't need to worry too much about flattening the battery unless you are camping a very long way from a charger.

Will have a look at those. Ive got an RCD hook up camping cable with a 3 pin adapter so would save buying a v2l lead

I used the V2L on my MG 4 to backup my home over winter when we get the really dull over cast days and my solar doesn't produce enough energy. On a bad day I can pull about 15% out of the car but the car will not let you go below 20% of available energy so you can get to a change point. As for best V2L adapter that something you would need to research the one that's going to best fit your personal use case. Happy camping ?
