Vibration from Air con

We have a mk 1 ZS which is just over a year old and a low mileage of just over 4000 miles on the clock. Recently I have experienced a low noise and vibration when I turn on the AC.It sounds like I have a engine running quietly when stood still .It's only the AC the blower doesn't make noise once AC switched off.You don't notice it when moving.
Has anyone else had similar thing happening with their AC ?

That will be the compressor as it will use an standard fridge compressor not a belt driven one

Quite normal, the harder the compressor has to work the louder it gets.

Thanks for reply it's certainly been used a lot recently with all the warm weather we have had.
Nothing to worry about then.i just noticed recently when stood at lights

Remember also that unlike an ICE car, the noise it makes isn't being drowned out by the sound of an engine.

My Prius was the same, the noise was even louder than the ICE on a hot day.
