I have a 23 plate (May) MG4 Trophy LR that until recently has been working fine and good to drive, but a few weeks ago it suddenly developed a charging issue where it would stop charging after a few minutes, but only when using the AC charger at home (and also three public AC chargers I tried). DC Charging seems to work OK. I booked it into our local dealership where I bought the car on the 9th April and after an initial inspection they reported it was charging OK. However, I asked them if they could try an overnight charge to fully verify the system. This time the charging stopped after a few Kwh were added. The same happened when they used their own cable and agreed there was a fault. I rang them today to see what progress there had been and was told that the problem had to be reported to MG China for a response before they could go any further. I'm not sure if this is a common response for other forum members, but it surprised me that the level of in depth diagnosis capability and autonomy the dealers have to rectify faults on their own must be fairly low. Incidentally, the Weather App ,which has never worked despite several infotainment updates, has also been reported to MG for a response. They've had the car two weeks now and there is no end in sight for this problem, nor is there any chance of a courtesy car until mid May. Have others had similar experiences with dealerships?
