MG3 Hybrid+ Trophy
The decision to buy an MG3 Hybrid+ is often based on a number of factors.

You decide to leave your previous car behind for the MG that will become your future companion.

It would be intriguing and interesting to know what make and model of car you had before your MG3.

What do you regret?

What have you gained with your new MG3?

As I initiated this post, I'll begin.

Thank you all for responding so that you can get an idea of what the MG brand has conquered in this B segment.

So let's get going!

My previous car was :

A grey 109 HP Honda Jazz exclusive Hybrid that was just over 4 years old and had about 30,000 km.
I regret the slightly higher fuel consumption...and the MAGIC seats.

What I have gained is a more responsive and comfortable car.... as well as full equipment and software control.

and you ?

I had a Honda Jazz 71 ex grey. I loved it and don’t really know why I decided to change it for the Mg3+Hybrid. I guess the grass always looks different on the other side.

Previous was a MG HS had it for around 7 month just couldn't take to it. Prior was an 2015 Hyundai i20 couldn't part with it when going for HS gave to daughter that prob should have set alarm bells re HS.

hello, for me a 2015 petrol I10 with 40,000 km

My previous ride was a 2020 Polo 1.0 SEL 115PS in Pure White, bought brand new, and sold after 4½ years with 12000 miles on the clock.

The MG is as good as the Polo, so I have no regrets about my decision. However, my longer term aim is to buy the VW ID.2, which I was hoping to replace the Polo with, but the ID.2 won't be available until 2026, so I see the MG3 as a stopgap before going full electric with the new VW. At over 4 years old, I'd had the Polo long enough.

  1. My previous car was a 5 year old 1.5dci Clio with 49000km on the clock.
  2. Good car but no regrets from changing it as I like to change every four or so years or so, for something different. The only car I ever regretted selling was a Skoda Yeti. Great car, very versatile and fun to drive.
  3. What did I gain with the MG3, more fun to drive than the Clio, automatic transmission, Android Auto, pre heating of the cabin.

For me it was a Mercedes A180 sport in black. Bought new and unseen during the pandemic.
Gained: More comfortable, better acceleration, better fuel economy, Lots of extra tech, quieter and possibly a dealership who's interest is in something other than trying to sell you another car.
Regret: Nothing except maybe 3 point star.

Skoda Fabia 2 RS, 1.4 TSI, 132 kW, year of construction 2011, approx. 183.400 km mileage.
I had been wanting a new vehicle for some time, as the RS no longer suited my current driving situation (previously a lot of long distances, later a lot of short distances = high fuel consumption, generally high maintenance costs).
The plan was to drive the Skoda for a while longer for various reasons, but the timing chain thwarted the plan. ?

What do you regret?
Well, I miss the sporty handling characteristics in the curves.
I miss the corner/curve lights.
I miss the green color.
I miss the engine noise, especially at low speeds. At least when people are strolling around in front of the car in parking lots. ?

What have you gained with your new MG3?
Gained lots of comforts. You drive relaxed and arrive at your destination just as relaxed.
Gained a heated steering wheel, which is perfect for me (you know, women and cold hands... Always. ?)
Gained some nice features like MG Pilot stuff and android auto etc.
Good fuel economy.

Thanks to you!

The amount of horsepower and power of the MG3 must have surprised you!

As always, a well-documented and well-argued post.

Thanks to you and your comments.

Like you, I thought the heated steering wheel and seats were a gimmick .... Well no! As soon as you try them, they're adopted and you can't do without them.

My MG3 replaced a Dacia Sandero DCI 90 , 2013...
From a diesel to an hybrid.

The dacia had a bigger space for the trunk, and the rear seats were 60/40 foldable.
MPG was a bit higher on the Dacia (like 5.5 to 6L per 100km) BUT the tank could contain 55++ Liters of diesel ^^

When it comes to boot space and the 40/60 split-folding bench, we're in agreement.
On the other hand, all hybrids have a small fuel tank (Yaris Cross, Clio) that gives them a range of 700 to 800 km.

I had a white diesel ford fiesta which served me well for 6 years. Didn't have a single issue with it other than a battery change and other routine maintenance. I got rid because it was creeping up to 80k miles and it's likely timing belt would have to be done... So thought I would go for a hybrid mg3 as my upgrade.

Hello Koz and thank you for your testimonial.
It is indeed a great leap forward.
First of all, there's a hybrid engine and technological advances that can be a bit confusing at first.
No doubt you'll appreciate the silence and performance of your new MG3.

I absolutely appreciate this new car. I found my diesel fiesta was a work horse and never let me down really. The only issue was the sluggishness from a standing start such as at roundabouts which frustrated me and lead me to purchase this mg3 hybrid.
