What car did your MG3 replace ? ??

Not sure what you mean by "software control" as It does what it likes when your back is turned.

2016 Fiesta titanium diesel nice car but a bit numb, the MG is much quicker and economical, but the pros stop there.

My MG3 Hybrid replaced my 2015 Renault Megane GT, a car I loved but it was becoming expensive to maintain (last problem was a blown thermostat seal), and it was going to need new front brake rotors and pads soon). Surprised that the MG3 Hybrid was slightly quicker accelerating than the Megane.

Previous was a Peugeot 297 sport 1.6 hdmi, had it for nearly15 years from new, great car only done 63k miles, only reason to change was that we change every 10 years but pushed this back due to the pandemic when nothing was certain. So we were thinking of what to get for next March 2025 and test drive the MG and it just gave us the wow factory in every respect, quietness, smoothness and power. A car this size should not be this fast! I was in the motor industry for 40 years and the last car to give this wowness was a Renault 21 Turbo, it was a company car and astonishing at that time. I think MG could really take the market by storm but there are a lot if things it needs to do with support. Most of the people selling the car don't understand everything it can do and it's only on forums like this that you can get that information. The thing is that most people will not buy what they don't understand unless it has this wow factor, so they will sell but they could be so much more. In the meantime I'll enjoy my new car thoroughly ?

The decision to buy an MG3 Hybrid+ is often based on a number of factors.

You decide to leave your previous car behind for the MG that will become your future companion.

It would be intriguing and interesting to know what make and model of car you had before your MG3.

What do you regret?

What have you gained with your new MG3?

As I initiated this post, I'll begin.

Thank you all for responding so that you can get an idea of what the MG brand has conquered in this B segment.

So let's get going!

My previous car was :

A grey 109 HP Honda Jazz exclusive Hybrid that was just over 4 years old and had about 30,000 km.
I regret the slightly higher fuel consumption...and the MAGIC seats.

What I have gained is a more responsive and comfortable car.... as well as full equipment and software control.

and you ?
I had Dacia jogger expression and really liked it good mpg reasonable fast and roomy when you took rear seats out and folded middle seats up but this car csr Mg3 hybrid + is a step up

and you ? My previous car was also Honda Jazz.Coming up to 7 years.Bought a MG3 se hybrid.Also miss the magic seats but don't miss the lack of power.My wife says since I've been driving the MG I've got more confidence because the MG has bags more power and I don't hesitate when overtaking etc.

Certainly, even if the Dacia has its qualities, particularly in terms of space, the MG3 is more powerful and dynamic.
Its equipment is also more comprehensive and up-to-date.

I replaced my Citroën C3, bought it new in 2007 and have done lots of fun miles for work and with my family in it, it's at 106000 now and sadly will soon be bound for the scrap yard :(

I liked the boot size in the C3, I'd struggle to fit a babies pram in the MG (but my child is a teenager now so not an issue).
I loved my CD player, hate not having that but the teens love the MG's connectivity and USB charging.
I love driving a manuals, always have done. I'm not hating the automatic but I think that's because I drive a few other work and family vehicles.

The MG is a really nippy car and you feel a nice surge of power overtaking or getting out of a junction, makes the C3 seem quite sluggish.

Oh yes, that's a big leap from the C3 to the MG3!

As for the CD player, I don't think any car comes with one. It has to be said that the USB key has many advantages, not least the absence of mechanical parts that could cause problems.
You can easily transfer an audio CD to a USB key without any loss of quality by choosing the FLAC audio format.
What's more, when you're stationary, you can even play video files on your central screen while you wait for Mrs or Mr to finish their appointment... ?

Lol, no Mr or Mrs here but definitely a good idea for when I take a bit longer than expected at the supermarket:)
I hadn't thought of a USB, was only thinking about having music on my phone (which i hate), USB is a great idea, I'll do that.

i had the seat leon fr hatch tech 150 bhp,had it 9 yrs ,46000miles,just got bored with it,mg3h looks very good and as new it smells good also of course it is up to date tech,but the paint is thin(solid white)so wait to see how it pans out.

The paintwork on the MG is much better than I expected for a cheap car, the only problem I've found is that the paint is a bit thin on the narrow strip below the front grille on mine.

This is not my car

My MG3 replaced a DS3 1.2 Connected Chic Auto which I owned from new in 2018.
It was a mostly reliable car, and fairly 'nippy' with a 3 cylinder turbo engine, although fuel economy with quite poor averaging low thirties MPG.
Unfortunately the ride was very crude, and at used to rattle like a bag of old tools, however on the upside it was eye catching in red with a black roof.

It's true that DS made some nice cars, but they looked too much like Citroëns ... and were more expensive.
The difference no longer seems to appeal to customers and it has become a marginal brand in terms of volume.

DS are trying to establish themselves as a stand alone premium brand, with their own unique products.
However as far as the UK is concerned, the dealer network, and promotion of DS UK just isn’t up to the task.
You have to be able to provide ‘premium’ service to compete with the established premium brands, and this is where they fall down.

At over 4 years old, I'd had the Polo long enough.
We had our previous car from new, from November 2009 until September 2023. Did 175K. Great car, very reliable. The wheel bearings, shocks and exhaust and all of the under-bonnet components save one injector, the alternator and the clutch were original equipment when we sold it.

The car? Honda FRV.

Exactly as in France: reliability and after-sales service are deplorable.

I'm not surprised.
Honda has established itself here in France as a very reliable brand.....but now sells cars that are too expensive.

Two weeks today and I've had no contact from the dealership. I have to say this particular MG branches customer service is not good. All I've had from them, when I've rung them up, is we're waiting on a control assembly.

My previous car was: a TWINGO GT sport 110 HP, automatic transmission, heated seats, lane keeping, rear camera, etc.; 6 years, 50,000 km.

The only things I regret:
a sportier cornering attitude than the previous rear-wheel drive car;
rear seats fold down 60/40;
engine noise, but only during maneuvers.

Performance (speed and acceleration) is quite similar.

With the MG3 (Silver - arrived at the beginning of September) I gained:
more interior space; more ADAS, more silence.
fuel savings (at least 50%).
a "differently" fun ride, but comfortable and relaxing with the hybrid, excellent regeneration (I always use 3), a minimum of practice to adjust the foot and it's the best (I only brake to stop).
the 360° view is good and essential for parking (only the front sensors are missing).
The two customizable stars on the steering wheel are also useful: I put the "regeneration" on the right and the "360° view" on the left (driver's seat on the left and I'm left-handed).
the APP, with pre-heating/pre-cooling (for winter and summer); the indication (in percentage) of the petrol in the tank (36 L.), which allows me to calculate the topping up to do; plus other features.

- The most negative aspect of the MG3: the small size of the characters on the monitor, some microscopic (for example the regeneration numbers) and the poor readability of the graphs.
They did not take into account the target clientele, which at the time was made up of Beatles fans.
And yet there would be room to double and, for some, triple in size; ditto for some important notices (in red) that appear for a few seconds, impossible to read. Hoping for a future update.

For now I have not yet encountered any problems going up and down the mountains, the closest ones do not present difficulties, but with a height of less than 1000 m;
in the mountains the best compromise to use could be:
uphill: "sport" mode, regeneration 1 or 2 or 3;
descent: "eco" mode, regeneration 3.
If there are better formulas, we will try them.
