Would anyone be interested in a wheel swap?

I'm thinking about getting a new MG5 Trophy, but don't like the wheels. Would anyone with a nearly new SE with unmarked wheels be interested in a free Trophy wheel upgrade by swapping wheels with myself if I get one?

You would need to be within a reasonable driving distance of DN37, and I'd come over to you and do all the work of swapping them over.

Just a thought, any interest? I'll need to check if the sensors need programming or will auto recognise, being the same MG ones.

Most likely the TPMS sensors need to be re-programmed but I don’t think that’s the reason why few would be interested in swapping.

It’s more to do that 17” rim wheels seem notably less efficient compared to the 16” stock and looks probably aren’t a top priority for SE owners.

It's barely noticable, about 4% less with the larger wheels. For someone charging at home most of the time, the difference in cost will run to around an extra £10 a year!! :ROFLMAO:

I've just been looking at the 17's again in some close up pictures. I think the way they've blacked out most of the wheel whilst highlighting what they have in diamond cut leaves them looking hideous, whilst they're not actually a bad design, so if I buy one, I'll most likely get my local wheel refurbishment place to re-colour them to 100% silver metallic, think that will improve them no end.

I am an old fart though, I know it's subjective and many like these horrible blacked out wheels today!!

You may come to that conclusion comparing WLTP figures but there is definitely more to it:

Maybe in the real world the difference is greater, but seriously, who cares? I pay 7p kWh for my electricity, it's almost utterly irrelevant in the scheme of things. :)

For once this isn’t about money, SR model’s LFP battery is considerably affected by low temperatures, last thing you want is to further reduce the range using bigger wheels…

I probably would have as I don't like the aero hubs on mine. I thought it would be easy to get them replaced but I haven't seen any that will fit the mg fittings.
But you're over 3 hours from me.. and the sensors and the Speedo being wrong due to different size wheels puts me off.

Speedo won't be wrong, the overall wheel/tyre combination diameter is the same on both models. Sensors will need reprogramming though.

I can assure that when some of us pay more than 10 times that at DC chargers we want the best efficiency possible.

My Trophy is a company car and I would have liked the option to downgrade the wheels but keep everything else vs the SE.

I posted the reason elsewhere on here but I’m getting used to my non-aero look 😊
