Xpower, the right choice?

Hendy were the cheapest for us on outright price when we bought ours.

I'll be honest, had quite a few issues with them initially (lied to about build date and software updates) and we did initially try and reject due to the dreaded vibration issue (and a breakdown after 300 miles) but they have a got a great MG master tech who is probably the only reason we've persevered with the car.

Enjoy your new car though - 6k miles in and we still love driving ours (and still hate the software, but have learned to live with it)

Yes. I've asked three times verbally and for both managers to confirm in writing that the car is a 2024 build. Which they have done. They are more than aware if it turns out to be manufactured in 2023 it's going straight back to them. So I have my backup plan ?

Not the MG branch but purchased from and used for service Hendy Nissan who are the same company whose building is opposite the MG dealership, they are very good.
Been in the MG side a couple of times to view the cars, again helpful but in this instance i went for a lease elsewhere, but will get them to service my X Power.

Wouldn't have thought they have any way of knowing (or very litle notice at most) ahead of taking delivery from MG UK.

Mine is Nov'23, ordered end of Aug & rec'd Monday. Obtained all the assurances from the dealer that it would have latest software updates etc and still came with only R40 version of the infotainment installed. However, they did claim to have updated key modules (LKA, ACC, and Tesla charging fix) and in fairness it does seem to drive ok.

Won't be taking it for a motorway burn until next week re seeing if the vibration issue is there but fingers crossed ?

Re. the Tesla charging fix ... the MG4 never needed one as far as I know. Only certain variants of the MG5 and ZS EV.

Could be mistaken on that one then, oh and there was also mention of an update to the AC temp control - from my very brief use thus far, sweet spot seems to be about 23 degs which sounds alot better than what I've been hearing...

I set mine to 25°C and it seems to work fine year round. On hot days (what are they in Scotland?) I might nudge it down to 24°C.

They have admitted they don't know the manufacture date but have insisted all current available stock would be 2024 manufactured. Time shall tell.... They know I will kick off if it is isn't.

I've asked for an update as soon as possible, and will be sent the info before collection. Hopefully, having made things absolutely crystal, I'll have straight forward grounds to return it if it doesn't meet the requirements set out. Somewhat paranoid about this whole vibration thing..

Thanks! Finding this a tough call as I have a price of 20k available from a local dealer for a new se... And 10k more for the Xpower. Very Large difference. With 5k it would be a no brainer to me!
If i was to make a argument to a wife is the AWD is safer ( if the tyres were better on the X power ) than the SE but i would still say the Xpower is just a 1 or 2 trick pony that while fun and never ceases to put a smile on my face the SE isn a smarter buy over all!!

That was my line but was also 50/50 over whether to go with the range of Trophy ER. Turned up at dealer with the wife and she was instantly "no, it has to be the XPower as that has the better looking trim." Who was I to argue; Sold! ?

Yep, but who wants, Smart. ??

I have come to accept that my purchase is based purely on emotional needs. At the end of the day, I can't justify the purchase using rational argument... It's just what I want!

I just pray it isn't a lemon with vibe issues.

Haven't signed the finance agreement yet. Asked for the VIN number however and have confirmed it's a 2023 build. Not off to a good start, having been assured that all their stock was 2024!!

They don't know the month yet and won't until they can send me a photograph of the sticker. They better pray it's after the magic date! (Which I've forgotten but will look up again)

To be on the safe side. November 2023 onwards, apparently. ??

One final email it is then! Reminded them that their promise of a 2024 build has already been broken. I have asked them to confirm that it is from the post Nov 2024 batch and will refrain from signing documents until this is assured.

Haven been bitten by car sales before, I am truly a pain in the buttocks customer. But if MG were fixing the issue, there wouldn't be a problem!

I find it odd they are still sitting on 2023 build cars, i wonder if it is an X Power only thing?
Got me wondering what mine will be now?.

The 10th digit on the VIN, "P" would indicate that it's a 2023 build.

I'm hopeful that I'm wrong and it hasn't been sat somewhere for nearly a year..

Might explain the price drop though!

Ok i will try and get my vin number when i speak to the dealer that has my car, not such an issue for me as i am leasing so technically not ever going to be my car as it stands but if i gel well with it i would always seek to buy it from them.
I assume they all sit at Portbury dock, unless MG have a holding compoud somewhere else.
