That was done by the Tory monkeys. Where have you been?, we've all known this for a year at least!

Let me give you a tip. At the end of march tax your car early for the year online using the registration document for reference as you won't have the reminder. Then you get free VED until April 2026. ;)

Had I known about it. I would hardly have been dumb enough to post it on here....

I signed up for the car on the 1st of August 22, doubt I'm likely to get it VED'd that early...

You can renew it online whenever you want.
It will tell you are doing it early but you can still do it.

Nope. My "tax" was due in November '24 but I retaxed for £0 in March '24. That means I'll need to pay £0 in February '25 to cover from 01-Mar-25 to 28-Feb-26, and thereafter I'll pay whatever is the going rate for EVs. :)

Just do it online, select the option for not having the renewal code, ignore the warning about it costing you (as it costs you £0) and just go ahead. :)

This is going to break the DVLA site at the end of March LOL

So let me get this straight, as I'm a bit fik. 🤪
I got my X Power this year on 14th Sept, so presume it was taxed from 1st Sept.
So the tax will be due 1st Sept 2025 which I will have to pay for. But if I tax it early in March 2025, I then won't have to pay tax until 1st April 2026. 🙄🙂

1st March 2026, which you'll pay in advance in February 2026 (as VED is effectively always paid in advance). Tax it in March 2025 and the tax becomes valid from 1st March 2025. When you do this retax dodge you effectively lose the current month's tax. ;)

I can live with that. 😉 🙂👍
