MG4 Software Update Thread

Tried erasing and restoring my iPhone 13 Pro Max to see if it would solve my CarPlay issue where I can't dictate text message when driving, no change. On the way to get my new tyres this morning, took my wife with me for coffee while we waited. Tried her iPhone and it works first time, message dictated and sent. Plug my phone in afterwards and what do you know, its only bloody working. What the hell is that about? Anyway, it remains working but I have no idea what fixed it. ?
 
Same problem on my car , unable to use voice command on android auto unless the car is stopped. If i release the brake in drive mode , voice command stay still with colors dots.

I already had the problem few month ago and did not really know how it solved itself...

Plugin in my wife phone and same bug happen.

Picked mine up today . Salesman sat in the car with me to run through how stuff works and I noticed it was R24 , told him it wasn't the latest software but he insisted PDI had installed latest updates. Anyway we couldn't get the ismart app to bind to the car so he got the young tech to look and he immediately notice the R24 and updated it to R33. However ismart will still not bind to the car so I have taken the car and they are going to get a fix from MG asap. To be fair the salesman just believed that it was all updated and the young tech lad did his best to sort it out. They will call me when they have a solution.

Any idea how they did it? I assume they took it back into the garage and plugged it in?

He sat in the car with me , plugged in a usb memory stick and installed it. Pretty quick really. He did it twice to hopefully solve the ismart problem but still wouldn't bind. I'm sure they'll fix it for me.

I take it you have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and then restarted your phone. Apology if this has already been done.
 
Interesting. So it doesn’t need plugging into the computer at all. Just need the software on a USB! Thanks
 
Very interesting. I've had a trophy since early November, had NO issues. Took car for recall software update a couple of weeks ago. No issues since. Today car will not bind to iSmart app. Removed, reinstalled. Reset password - I cannot get a key code for app by text but email works fine. Wasting a lot of time doing this..
Anyone had similar issue?

Basic question always: is the car online? Easiest test: do the weather services work?
 
Yes weather info there and up to date. I do however have a message notification top right which I haven't had before. No message evident!

It should appear in the "User" menu -> "Messages".

If the weather is there, the car is online. The iSMART app locked me out a week ago just to work perfectly well again the next day. I'd wait 24 hours and then take it to the dealer. It seems to be a fragile system.

The tech guy seemed to think it was connected to the R33 update. He said he had heard of cars not being able to connect the wireless services or create a hotspot after the update which I think is what has happened to mine. Just have to wait for them to sort another patch to fix it.
 
Cheers all. Will try again tomorrow. Later attempts this evening had the response 'Service is unavailable, please try later' so could be system issues or access..
 
How about this for service. My dealer is going to bring a courtesy car to my house in the morning so that I can get to work, take my car to fix the software, then the tech is going to bring my car back when I get home to pick up the courtesy car and ensure my ismart binds and works ok. Pinkstones MG. Legend's!

My current Renault dealer (Lookers Chester) sort of does this when servicing my Zoe while I'm at work in the next city over (Wrexham).
The mechanic arrives in another Zoe, leaves it in my office car park, and drives mine to the garage.
(The main difference is I don't need to go anywhere, so I don't get given his as a courtesy car.)
Then, when the work is done, he brings mine back and returns to Chester in his own.
