Car Froze unable to exit car!!

I said it in jest really.
It just highlights the ineptitude of MG that sorting one thing ruins another.

I count the days until I’m away from this hopeless manufacturer.
Looking at a post about someone smelling burning as they were stuck inside, I’d have laughed like a maniac to watch mine burn from the safety of a verge.
Perhaps danced around it naked, like a pagan ritual.
Wow, certainly some strong feelings flying around , as someone just considering placing an order it certainly makes you pause for thought but there's nothing else anywhere near as affordable for me through my work sal sacrifice leasing scheme so there's going to have to be a VERY good reason to go for something else

Bowfer has had a terrible experience, got a lemon with multiple problems and then had bad service trying to get it fixed. So not surprising he feels so strongly.

There are some others with a similar level of problems but not many. A larger group have been put off buying by hearing their stories.

The MG4 has had a lot of minor faults but not many new ones have been mentioned lately and the old ones are steadily getting fixed.

And you should know that these are not the typical experiences, there are many happy owners out there. It is just that they are not jumping up and down about it all the time.

Buying the latest thing is not without risk, if you expect perfection you'll be disappointed but if you want a great car and are prepared to put up with some issues, the MG4 could be for you.

Totally agree.
The majority of issues being reported are software related and there's a reasonable expectation of them being solved via updates (as many already have).
Many other manufacturers have similar issues with ADAS features. I was talking to work colleague who has a Ioniq 5 and they had 2 false AEB activations on a motorway due to shadows of pillars!
1st model year of a new line always has problems.

It's good to be able to research the things to look out for. But know that people not experiencing any problems probably don't hang around the forums as much.

tsedge are you SURE you don’t work for MG Europe?? ???
But do agree I think this car is worth waiting for

Is his name smart?
As in Billy Smart, the famous circus person?
I’m saying nowt
MG customer service is definitely a circus, or it's a certain part of the circus

The bit with the clowns and car parts falling off ? ?....I hope not...

I have just had a look at the Emergency Exit hints and tips to see if I can identify the part.
Opened the tailgate and I can see the lock.
But could not locate the Keyhole Plug.
It seems to have a dark grey plastic cover over the lock.

Question:
Do you have to remove the plastic cover to expose the Keyhole Plug.
If so, how do you achieve this if the tailgate is shut?

I believe the instructions say you have to remove the cover? That's why some people say about keeping a flat-blade screwdriver in the boot.
As far as I remember, you can remove the cover by hand. I'd popped a screwdriver in the boot to turn the release rather than fiddling with the key. Hopefully I will never use it!

So, drove to work, all well, then went to a customers premises with 2 other colleagues in my MG4 Trophy which is one month old today as a fact!!!

Came out, drove back to work but as we pulled up, the car suddenly jolted. We stopped, pushed the handbrake button but we could not exit the car. Doors would not unlock, windows would not scroll down, engine froze, electrics froze, stuck in car for over 45 minutes.

After many panic discussions with nearby MG dealerships, we were told to take the battery off and wait 10 minutes for it to reset, got to get out of the car first!!!!!
After a good 90 minutes, suddenly smelt the strong whiff of burning so smashed the passenger window to get out.

Horrible episode to be involved with, car only 4 weeks old and now car returned to dealership. I am refusing to have it back, have emailed MG, I want a complete replacement. Quite simply, if a fire had engulfed us, we would have been dead, this is a major H&S issue for the MG4, as a Health & Safety Director myself, I am not going to let this go, MG you have been warned.

Other users, please be aware!!! I do have videos of the incident if anyone wants them, send me your number and I will whatsapp them!!

Thank the lord I got the hard copy of the hand book from Sloucher as I could have been sat outside in the cold for hours looking this up.

So on page 249 and 250 under the heading of
STARTING AND DRIVING we find these pages
