MG4 Loud bang when charger connected

When changing cars, always do the "I have sold the car" (yellow) bit of the V5C online, it's really easy.

You get almost instant acknowledgement by email that you've told them the car is no longer yours.

A few days later, you also get an official letter by post that you can show to the police, if they come a-knocking about your old car.

thats true but dealers should be doing all of this as part of the deal. Problem with this dealer is that they dont give a damn once the deal is done. We got told we had driveaway insurance and we should get something emailed but waited an hour after driving away and nothing so questioned them. 'Oh sorry we forgot to do it', sorry this dealer needs sorting out very quick. Area manager said he was going to sort it and change attitudes but that's false promises again. He now wont return my calls. Certainly not the best way to go with me. Get my back up and I will take it further.

That's exactly what my dealer did - they filled out the online V5C and I had the email confirmation from DVLA before I left the building.

I'd be walking away and getting something else after the hassle you've had, I think my trust in the car and MG would be non existent now

Not done one yet. Was waiting on what finance said. They have just called me and they are going down the rejection route. If they do repair it I have a couple of years to reject the car still.

I am getting to the point of simply walking away. Did not buy a Frankenstein car with bits from several cars. MG surely are getting such bad press over things like this along with bad dealer experience.

You’d think, but where is the bad press…?
All you see is glowing reports about the 4, which is easy for journos to write if they only have an hour or two in a car that may or may not be prepared by MG’s press fleet to a higher level than us mere mortals.

I’ve not tried to note any registration plates in test cars to see if there’s a pattern and price my press fleet suspicions.
Porsche used to have a press car that was easily spotted as it had the Reg 911 HUL.

Legally you can ... but that doesn't mean a debt isn't still owed. (A loan is a civil [lawful] not criminal [legal] matter). :)

#pedant ;)

Please excuse my stupidity here folks, but I am just struggling to understand why you are still being expected to continue making payments on a car, that you have almost never seen, let alone driven for any reasonable length of time ?.
I know you have stated, that this could be seen ( legally ) as NOT the right thing to do.
But the finance company must show a duty of customer care towards its customer, which is you !.
Come on, you only want what you are paying for really, no more, no less.
Really, who takes out finance deal on a brand new car, to then have it sitting in a workshop for weeks & weeks on end, being stripped and rebuilt every couple of weeks, as and when a so called fix is attempted and then fails.
Personally, I think you have been MORE than patience and given them enough time with regards to trying to rectify this problem.
It should have been returned to Long bridge weeks ago and you given the new car that you deserve.
In this type of situation when leasing a car ( never done it myself ) am I correct in thinking that the finance company actually owns this car really, and you are in affect only renting it from them for a set payment plan over a set period of time ?.
You therefore will never ever own any part of that the car, period.
So, it appears on the face of it to be fairly straight forward.
When the contract was drawn up, you agreed to pay "X" number of pounds / month in exchange for leasing company to providing you with the use of the agreed car, over a set time scale.
Well, somebody is clearly in breach of contract then and its not you.
It could be suggested that they taking money under false pretences.
THEY - Should be the people who are applying pressure on MG to sort out this mess.
I have no doubt at all, that this lease company put's a lot of business in this direction and will not want to threaten that situation.
You need to be firm and tell the lease company you do not intend to continue paying for THAT car anymore.
You are totally done with it, after all it's not your car !.
