Does it make sense to buy a new base model MG4

Exactly, the savings have to come from somewhere (though I wouldn't call it that bad!).

Are the interior materials as nice as the competition? Well no, but they are good enough and is the competition actually competitive on price because every time I look into it, they are more expensive than the 4, so not really "competition" per se.

Does it lack some features? Yes, again, that's where the low price comes from.

Far less excusable is bad service. That's a worry, but then again nothing has needed service on mine yet.

There was more hard scratchy plastic on the fascia of my Golf than there is on the MG4. I think they've done a pretty good job of producing a decent product for the price.

Mgs biggest problem other than the mixed service stories is undoubtedly their glitchy software, it's such a mixed bag! It ranges from minor niggles to totally useless on the same spec 4. I really don't understand why, if the get one right, a learning point isn't taken from that car and rolled out to everyone.

"I'd like it to look like i'm a rich oil baron and leak out plenty of oil please"

"I'd like it with many glitches so I can become surly and frustrated please"

"Finally how would you like your after sales customer care sir?"
"I'd like it reading as if it is delivered by a children's' nursery over email please"
