MG4 Software Update Thread

Either the dealers now know what they are doing or the software has become more stable as I haven't heard of any cars being bricked recently.

I'm taking the same stance. No update without the external temperature display. But also, what does it fix? I want the USB player to work, I want the automatic door locking to be able to be disabled, and I want the radio to stop coming on every time I get into the car. That's the three SE-specific issues. Then there's a string of less critical glitches, from the lights coming on in broad daylight, to the state-of-charge display staying green even when the car is moments from running out of juice. If they're not actually fixing things, what's the point?

Would you not be able to run your music through android auto now you use that? I’m assuming it has a music player

Based on the feedback on the Trophy releases there will be a bunch of fixes in the SE infotainment update, including maybe the automatic lights calibration.

Unless people upgrade, we won't learn what these fixes are. As far I can see there have been a number of updates for the SE but not many reports of people having them installed and what they fix.

I’d like to get the software installed but not paying for the update and currently nothing wrong (touchwood) with the software now

Let's hope. I genuinely love this car, but hearing that awful clunk as the doors lock is shredding my nerves, wrestling with the music system when it's all in individual files is soul-destroying, and having the radio come on when I take my seat in the car after helping my passenger into her seat is just embarrassing.

Since the SoC bars are meant to go amber and then red as the battery empties, why don't they? And please, someone, just get the software to subtract five from all these temperatures on the screen. Etc. etc.

How about MG doing it...? ?
Yes, that would be better but they aren't.
If over the air updates worked it would be easier than having to book your car in and leave it at the dealers for 7 or 8 weeks ?
Not if they introduced bugs you didn't want and auto installed. But if working, yes, this would be a better system.

You have to bear in mind that Tesla are a software company that make cars (shoddily, if my son's is anything to go by) and MG are a car company that probably outsource their software to someone else.
I can't argue with the build quality if it's made in the USA ?

But MG are selling cars that are let down by the human interface....I'd like them to make cars that work straight out of the box.....
The car is no longer new to the market, I think it's probably optimised for it's home market and "outsourcing" like GM, Ford and Stelantis do (that I know of) isn't an excuse IMHO
which is why we are all here.
