MG Ambient lighting

For hardwiring to a switched fuse in the fusebox rather than taking up a usb socket. The intention to wire to the same fuse as the dashcam so as soon as you get in the drivers seat the strips come on.
Not the exact one as you would probably need the 5v conversion type like a dashcam.

The strips come on with the key? I just put a USBc - USB2 multi adapter in my c socket. Unlock with key = strips light up & lock with key out they go.

I realise that but i wanted something more OEM without cables being seen in the cabin. A pet hate of mine if it can be done without seeing any wiring . My dashcam is wired so comes on as soon as you sit in the seat. Easy to do so ill go down that route i think.

Fare enough. Ive done my Nextbase front & rear cameras that way.

Just installed mine. I found the pwr cable a little short, so it can't go into the USBC socket with adapter.

After reading the post again, i realized how stupid i am. The pwr cable in my car is at the opposite side. ? i should uninstall and install again.

BTW, for anyone who interested to make it even more OEM, u can take power from OBD port ?.

Here is my install, power from the fuse box inside.

Can you send a link to the upper strip and under seats leds? How did you managed to connect another strip to the controller?
It is the "10 in 1" version, 6 led emitters, 4 led strips and 8 meters plastic optic fiber. Not super bright.

I’d love to have something like this installed, I don’t have the confidence or required skills so happy to pay if anyone interested in doing this please

No, mine is no bright enough. Can you adjust the brightness on yours? Can you give the link of your kit?
I can adjust the brightness. At the minimum settings its not bright but still can be see though the glass at night.

One thing that i forgot to mention, i don't know how you installed the upper strip, but mine is with tape that arrived in the package. It is not embedded in the groove between the layers because its too tight.

For the down section:

Im on my 3rd Ali express ambient lighting kit & honestly believe Ive finally cracked it. This kit is easy to install & boasts millions of colours & modes. Better still it looks “factory fitted”. You get 2 strips, one longer (passenger side) & a shorter strip for between the steering wheel & door. Behind the driver screen you will see a trim cover, carefully raise & remove it revealing 2 philips screws, remove these enabling you to move the screen out of your way. Now simply push in the strips along the dashboard inbetween the top of the gloss black trim & dashboard fake leather. The wire end should be at the steering wheel end. The screen move enables you to get right round the curve behind the screen. You are almost done !trim the long ends off with sharp scissors & seal ends with electrical tape before pushing in flush. Guide the 2 wire connections down past the screen & put the screen back. Connect them & plug into the usb. It lights up green ?. The supplied remote needs a cr2032 battery however the instructions give you a link to a free ios/android app. Done ! You can adjust brightness, select any colour or have rainbows scans & god knows what, it will even react to music (if thats your thing). Best of all it looks factory fitted. You may have to power it on/off with the remote, just point it at the thingy plugged into the usb. My Wife loves hers & I love mine.
Have you got a picture to show the wire down to the USB port? Just interested to see how it looks
