Hi, thanks for your response. I have never performed the procedure you mention so will give it a go when the battery is drained to 5% or lower. Everything was fine until they fitted new part on Friday and tried to update from R33, which they failed as it's still on R33
I have reached out to MG after sales and they have sent me the following:
Thank you for your enquiry, I will try to answer both questions, however, there is no sure way of stating exactly what is happening.
The HV shut off message can occur when the car feels threatened by the supply it is about to receive. If it is this scenario, then it could be a faulty charge point.
However, it could also be that the cable was not plugged in firmly, or that the vehicle was not switched off when charging began. Please make sure that you plug cable into car, that all doors are shut. When you then press lock button to lock the car, it should begin charging. Hopefully the fact that the car did receive a charge afterwards, means that there is no fault with the car charging port itself.
If the car has been reset, then the vehicle would lose all historical data. If you are achieving 230 miles from a full charge, it will not suggest that you are going to achieve 300 when you charge again. I hope this makes sense as it will take historical data into account. Similarly, if you are achieving 300 miles from a full charge, then the car will gradually take this into account and will gradually increase the range from a full charge. Again, from your historical driving data.
I trust that the above will answer your questions, but ultimately, there could be a number of reasons for why this is occurring.
Kind regards
Looking back I did have the doors open and the car switched on when I plugged car in. Will try what they have suggested when I make some space in the battery
