Call from dealer saying car ready to collect. Asked if it's been tested on fast charger, very vague with answer so will have to see. Not been put on slow charger either, may ask them to do this when I get there to make sure I can charge at home. The lady also told me update been done and if I still have issues with blue tooth connection with phone to bring it back. Will update later when I've collected vehicle.

Collected vehicle, told me update had been done but still on R33, no surprise really by the amount of fault pings on my phone, not sure engineers have been instructed how to do this. Tried the slow charger they have on site, that works fine, will need to try fast charger later as dealership don't have one.

Do you mean Rapid DC charger or fast AC EVSE?

Sorry, rapid DC charging

Managed to plug DC charger today and it worked, but did throw up error message HV battery shut off. No idea what this means

Morning, charged vehicle to 100% over night on house charger. Range is saying 238 miles, I have a trophy and this used to be around 300 during warm weather, not sure if this battery error message is causing this.

This is the error message when plugged into DC charger

Have a look at your last 50miles consumption trend in the charging (centre display) and also look at the accumulated total on the drivers display.
Those stats are quite relevant to the remaining range displayed.
You might also want to perform a 5% to 100% charge on AC once, which will help the battery pack to be completely equalised and fully charged.

I get that error message when a charger (whether AC or DC) is plugged into the charging port but it’s not active. The car shuts off the HV battery and you’ll see the red 12v battery symbol meaning the 12v battery is not being charged because the HV battery is now, for safety purposes, shut off.

Hi thanks for the reply, I have attached images below, hope they are correct ones

The 238 miles at 100% look strange indeed given your accumulated total av. consumption and the trend over last 50 miles.
Perhaps something else has changed. Or perhaps the state of health has somehow declined: hence my suggestion to do a full discharge (down to 5%) and then a full charge to 100% and let the car equalise at the end, all in one go on AC.
Have you ever performed such a procedure before?

Hi, thanks for your response. I have never performed the procedure you mention so will give it a go when the battery is drained to 5% or lower. Everything was fine until they fitted new part on Friday and tried to update from R33, which they failed as it's still on R33

I have reached out to MG after sales and they have sent me the following:

Thank you for your enquiry, I will try to answer both questions, however, there is no sure way of stating exactly what is happening.

The HV shut off message can occur when the car feels threatened by the supply it is about to receive. If it is this scenario, then it could be a faulty charge point.

However, it could also be that the cable was not plugged in firmly, or that the vehicle was not switched off when charging began. Please make sure that you plug cable into car, that all doors are shut. When you then press lock button to lock the car, it should begin charging. Hopefully the fact that the car did receive a charge afterwards, means that there is no fault with the car charging port itself.

If the car has been reset, then the vehicle would lose all historical data. If you are achieving 230 miles from a full charge, it will not suggest that you are going to achieve 300 when you charge again. I hope this makes sense as it will take historical data into account. Similarly, if you are achieving 300 miles from a full charge, then the car will gradually take this into account and will gradually increase the range from a full charge. Again, from your historical driving data.

I trust that the above will answer your questions, but ultimately, there could be a number of reasons for why this is occurring.

Kind regards

Looking back I did have the doors open and the car switched on when I plugged car in. Will try what they have suggested when I make some space in the battery

So… still not fixed! Been back in today for a part to be fitted. They told me over and over it was the CCU. Lo and behold, it’s actually the ECV, whatever that is. And it’s also preventing them doing the software update apparently.

They’re going back to MG to say that isn’t fixed so to order the CCU so back to the waiting game…

After getting vehicle back and charging to 100% at home due to long journeys with no issues I set car to 80% on both car and ismart app. Car carried on to 100% charge. Gave it a few days and then tried again last night, same result 100%.
Emailed MG support ,who told me to make sure vehicle and app are set to 80%, if it carries on charging to 100% get in touch with local dealer to attend to it. Seems one fix creates another issue.

Has happened to a few people after the CCU has been replaced - it needs a software update

Mine does that. The indicated range has also been reduced to about 212 miles at 100% charge and that's with everything zeroed. It's booked in again at the beginning of August for the dealer to sort out.

Car back in dealer yesterday for issue with 80% charge, they also informed me that they have some updates to do. Rang me late yesterday to inform me they have been trying for four hours but the server keeps crashing. Asked me if I wanted vehicle back for weekend, told them I don't need it and they will have another go on Monday.

That’s interesting, which garage are you at? I see you’re also Liverpool. Mine is going back in on Monday (and I’m not getting it back until it’s sorted) as they still haven’t replaced the CCU. It should be done this week coming hopefully, but I’ve had to wait because the only guy at the garage (St Helens Chapelhouse) who deals with EVs is on paternity until Monday coming…!
