When trying to scan bar code of MG4 vehicle on MG App keep getting This service is not available at the moment please try later .Any ideas?

I've tried deleting the app on the phone reinstalling and then logging into the app again, but it made no difference. Also set up the app with a new account on my wife's phone and that couldn't connect either. So we have two separate accounts but would only plan to use one. Which ever one we can get to connect
Ugh. It has occurred to me that you've got a trophy and we've got an SE so the software may be different.

If I go to the bind screen in the car it still gives two options: an option to bind (with a QR code) as well as unbind. It does that even though it is already bound. However, I expect if someone tried binding to another account you would get the message 'already bound, unbind first' or something like that.

Basically nothing changes within the car except you get an error message telling you it isn't possible to bind because the car is bound to another account.

If you have that QR code, what if you try logging in to one of your other accounts and try binding with that - does it say that it is already bound?

Also - perhaps someone with a trophy could confirm any differences within the software.
 
I have had my MG4 for over a week now and cannot bind it to the iSmart app. I feel like have tried everything and have searched the net for solutions. We've taken it back to the dealership who seemed more clueless than me.

In the app, I have given myself a nickname. This is appearing on the car screen but the app is still saying 'bind car.'

I have included an image which shows no QR code to connect my vehicle. Why could this be?

The only thing I am clinging onto is it is still connected to previous owner (although the dealership are saying it isn't). However I haven't got my logbook yet so cannot contact MG directly to remove any previous owners.

Any thoughts? Has anyone else had the same issue with no QR code?

We've got quite a few threads about this, which maybe should have been merged at some time.


I'm a bit uncertain which one would be most appropriate to merge this specific query into, but I'm fairly sure it's covered there somewhere. If it's not, maybe you could explain what's different about this particular issue?

Have you tried pressing the Connect The Vehicle button? (Is it a button?)

Also maybe set the theme to Dark rather than Auto or Light?

But, as you say, it may well be already bound to an account so not displaying the 2nd QR code.
 
The second QR code doesn't appear until Connect the vehicle is pressed. If it then just gives you a login screen without a QR code then someone has previously logged in to the cars account.

You'll need to contact MG's customer services to unbind the account. The dealer can't do it unless they know who previously set up the account and can get them to unbind the car from their phone.

I appear to 'bind' ok but then on screen, it says log in to your account- but I'm already signed in
 
I have a similar issue, I'm unsure if the previous owner is bound to my car. But the car gives me a QR code which I scan successfully on the app, the car appears to "log in" and shows some details, the app also says successful but then still shows the "bind" screen. No idea how to fix this.

Also off topic - how do I check what latest software version I have? I have attached the photo do I have the latest or oldest? The dealer said new but I can't find most of the features that is suppose to be in the car?

Only the previous owner can unbind the car so you'll have to contact MG customer services who will require proof of purchase and ownership to do it.

You don't have the latest infotainment software and although you can't check the software version of the other modules they probably haven't been updated either. You'll have to go to an approved MG dealer to get the updates.

It is MG UK Customer Service [email protected] that you will need to contact, not a dealer.

Email them with proof of ownership (e.g. photo of V5) and they will do it for free.

The previous owner may not have realised they should have unbound but it if they were aware then is poor form that they did not do so.

Was the dealer an MG dealer because they are the only ones who can update the software?
An MG dealer may charge for any updates which are 'optional' that is not the subject of a recall.

As @Grriff said only MG dealers can update the software. For your peace of mind it might be worth booking the car into an MG dealer to check the software as there have been a couple of critical updates, which will be free, and to check the service record.
If the car is serviced at an MG dealers you maintain the warranty and continue the free breakdown cover.

Did you manage to resolve this? I have exactly the same problem. Scanning the QR code with the app appears to log the car in in some way, but the app itself just goes back to the bind screen (no error message). Tried both 2.0.3 and the new 2.0.4 android iSmart apps.

Hi mate, yes I did.

After scouring around for info there was another thread on here which confirmed my car was still bound to the previous owner hence why it kept reverting back to the bind screen on the app after scanning the QR code or logging in manually.

I contacted MG customer services (as advised by Bam Bam above) by email with my details and the cars reg, VIN, and a screenshot of my V5 and they unbound the car within 24 hours for me. Next time I tried to bind in the car the correct bind to vehicle/connect vehicle button appeared.
