XPower feels slow and launch control not working

It's a bit odd that the xpower has an nmc battery that's designed not to be fully charged ie 80% for normal use but it cuts the power too

I don't think it's just the XPower that loses a bit of power as they all seem to at some stage, but the XPower certainly seems to be the worse by some margin under about 35% SOC according to Bjorn Nylands findings ? (see post #59 on here) :-

Hi guys, my apologies that I'm bringing up an old thread. My X-P is now 6 months old, and I've been getting power issues. I've actually just got it back today from the dealer. Battery went down to 18% by the time I got home, but it's seemed to have lost its mojo. Its cold here today for us (12 degrees and raining in Australia) however, its not really cold compared to other parts of the world. The car had been driven throughout the day. Was anything confirmed with your loss of power, I'm not really happy with its performance at present.

It's a known 'characteristic' of X Power.

When you start getting to the lower levels of charge, it's not really interested in going balls out!

Just wait til it's really cold, you have less than 10% and you encounter a gradient at motorway speeds.....

Mine was slowing to 50mph whether I liked it or not.

I didn't like it.

Ive learnt to keep car the well charged to make sure I get the experience that I paid for.

I also pick any battles very carefully when I'm below 20% charge.

Still quicker than most things I find!

Just another 'adaptation' you adjust to, coming from ICE.

EDIT : It also makes sense when you think about it........I think ?

The car MUST limt your performance when it's battery powered, and low charged as it just doesn't have the reserves available to get you to the GOM reading.??

I'm sure someone can explain what I'm trying to say.....

Did you find the temperature makes a big difference? For 6 months I haven't noticed it, but lately we're around 16-20 degrees during the day. I've also had quite a few times were the throttle doesn't respond for a few seconds. I end up pushing more and more and then "X-POW!" we take off. (Like what I did there? they should get me writing the scripts for Batman or Lighting McQueen)

Were you in Sport Mode ? .... as suggested by Bjorn Nyland (post #59 on here) this seems to give better power at low SoC.

ESC? Think it was @Bricktop X PWR who first mentioned turning it off. I've found there's far less electronic hand- holding/ half second of pause when turned off compared to when left on (default)

I do occasionally get a delay, but that's about 5 seconds! Its an unresponsible pedal. You push the pedal further and further and then after a few seconds it takes off. However, I seem to be very low on power at the moment. It seems to take off the line ok, but just fizzles out and takes a long time to get up to speed. I remember when first getting it. If I floored it, the tyres would chirp and it's take off hitting 100kph almost instantly; now I'm watching the speedo and waiting.

But only when I've enough power/charge to warrant switching it off.

Make sure you are in Sport/Normal mode and have plenty of charge.

If your still having a delay there is something wrong.

Went out the other night with my mate in his Telsa 3 performance and swapped between the cars, he was really impressed with how quick the MG was, however the biggest difference was that delay in throttle response. It's not 5 seconds or anything in mine, but its definately longer than the Tesla, which is instant.

I've not drive the Tesla performance, I always thought the MG was pretty instant compared to ICE. My delay isn't normal, its only happened a few times and it's more that the pedal isn't responding rather than a delay. I've been trying to track my 0-60/100 times with different charge levels. I'm mostly running around 5.5 seconds with a normal s.o.c. in the battery (30-70%). I've only hit 4 seconds once and that was with 98% soc. I haven't had a chance to try 80% soc range as I have to drive to more suitable roads to test. With these figures, I feel a bit ripped off, as I bought a car with the expectation of being quick, at these numbers I'm no quicker than a decent ICE and probably would've bought something else. I'm going to put up a new post to see who else has any figures for their car.

I find in normal mode there is a very, very slight delay in response. However in sport mode the response feels instantaneous, to me anyway.

Back in 2016 I had a Mk7 Golf R which was quick, however the response was very slow. A lot of owners complained at the time and I ended up fitting a pedal box, which solved the problem.

You should not be getting any delay if in Sport and with a decent amount of charge on board.

My car is instant to the throttle even in normal mode.

Eco/snow is the only time my pedal turns to treacle, but that is by design.

I also find it extremely dissapointing that the power is reduced as the charge decreases.

I fully understand it, but it is an 'AGG' none the less.

This is my car low on charge, I estimate the 0 to 60 at about 6 seconds.
Frankly embarrassing. ?
