MG4 Software Update Thread

On the old version of the infotainment software if I turned on the demister or heater using the physical switches or the right star button the heating screen would disappear after a few seconds. On R59 the screen remains until I push the home screen button. Is this normal?
Yes as @Rolfe says, this apparently was a bug, although I liked it. I have this since they updated Foxy to R46 and I have adapted to the extra button press.

It is more annoying that the full heating screen comes up when you start the car or the AC and has to be manually dismissed. Would make more sense to go to the main screen.

I do not have r59, only r46. But it is the same here.

I think one issue is that if the screen disappears without being told to, the right-hand joystick remains coded to the HVAC until you cancel it, and if you try to change the radio volume you'll find you're actually changing the temperature.

I had more issues week before last. Got in the car and got a bunch of failures including airbags, ACC and auto hold. After being locked for 10 minutes the errors had cleared.

You do not need to lock the car. Just hold the home button for at least 15 seconds (others say less) until the screen starts to power up. The warnings should disappear. If not then use the info screen power down option (different for info versions) and then press the brake pedal to power up. If all that fails then, yes, you need to exit and lock/unlock the car but you probably only have to wait a few minutes.

I got out and locked the car, then got back in and the warnings were still there, it even pinged messages to my phone stating that the alarm had been deactivated. I did drive it carefully and yes the systems I could test (cruise control) had indeed failed.

Edit: Even if pressing the home button did reset it, I still shouldn't have to do it. if I buy a brand new car I expect it to be 100% faultless. I espect to find issues (usually mechanical) on a used car, but a new car should be perfect.

Not happening on mine.

Well, I don't know, I have the SE so it's always stayed on till I cancel it on mine.
I meant the volume changing of the radio. But it could be this only happens if you put hvac under the choice button. I don't have that (use regen).

To be honest, I always change some hvac setting at the start. So popping up the hvac screen is not an issue for me.

Same here Rolfe. We are not that far away from you :-)
I actually use voice control more and more often to change fan speed or temp when driving. However, changing air inflow demands opening hvac menu. But that is ok. And with hvac in eco mode it actually behaves fine. This week we had +34 celsius and the car cooled down in about 5 km's using airco at 25 degrees.

Yes, I liked this about the old behaviour as it meant I could make small quick adjustments without losing the display of the map. But it is no biggie.

I don't find it a problem, in fact I prefer to cancel the screen when I want it to go, rather than having it disappear on me. I can dismiss it within a second or two if I want to, and I'm only going to be changing the HVAC settings when I don't need to have my eye constantly on the map.

Got in the car and the main display got as far as showing the MG logo and crashed. Now stuck on the MG logo even after locking the car and leaving it.

Is there a way to do a force reset on the display?

Option 1: press and hold the physical Home button until the screen starts rebooting. You may need to reset some default settings, and reprogramme radio favourites.

option 2: disconnect the 12V battery -ve connection for a minute then refit. (You'll need to follow the procedure to reset the window controls and steering wheel centring).
