MG4 Software Update Thread

Can you please tell me the procedure for how you did this because I tried but I can't upgrade?
Long story short, there’s this thread:

I managed to upgrade the SE to R63 including the navigation
everything worked except the temperature was on LO and couldn't be adjusted.
the fan and all buttons worked except the temperature

R33 rather than R30 - but yes. :)

My knowledge of SE (UK) software is:

1100R13 (what was installed when I got my car)
1100R16 (I never had this: lost the external temperature indication)
1100R21 (I never had this: still no external temperature)
1100R33 (what I got at 1st service: returned the external temperature, got the new HVAC display, added the top bar in AA/CP and pull-down menu was accessible)
1100R38 (what I got at 2nd service: fixed HVAC temperature range and HVAC function [together with an HVAC module update], pull-down menu no longer accessible in AA/CP)
My MG4 SE LR is going for its first service in a couple of weeks and I’ve asked if they can fix the missing external temperature display and the forgetting of left hand menu selection (usually drive modes). So R33 or R38 best?

Very little difference TBH - think you lose the pull down option on the main screen on AA using R38.

Installing a trophy release on a SE is entirely possible, and it runs almost flawlessly if you tinker a bit with the maps and activation. I used R59, then R63 on my SE for several months without any issues.

I managed to install the maps, and the navigation was fully functional. However, I eventually reverted to R38 ...

R38 also works great on the Australian Excite 51, rear camera works fine and it seems to have fixed the left * button forgetting it's setting all the time.

My car (Xpower) went in for a service earlier in the week. They've 'updated' due to some Bluetooth issues and the lane keeping. The unit was r46 but they've now installed r40. Are there any release notes for the various versions to say what the changes are? Is it worth asking them to reinstate to r46 or upgrade the version to the latest one? So far, i can't see much of a change although it keeps speed on ACC round corners and can now be adjusted in 1mph increments.

Just got my MG4 64 Luxury MY23 from the dealership after the 2nd regular service. They applied SCUK077 but they said no software updates found for my car so I am stuck on R24?? Are they pulling my leg?
They probably mean no mandatory updates paid for by MG. Very few updates are mandatory, I think we have only had two or three in three years.

Getting infotainment updates usually requires either paying for them or making a warranty claim because something isn't working right. Asking for "the latest updates" won't do it.

I am not saying this is a good situation, but it has been like this consistently since the car launched.

I called the garage. They told me to take the car back. Not sure if they can fix it if R38 doesn't support Android 11.
I can't categorically say that R38 supports A11 ... I can categorically say that it supports A10, A14 and A15 - at least on my phones anyway. :)

But why don't they say it like that? I am more peeved by the fact they said there are no infotainment updates available when I know there are and that they improve it. Also, nowhere on the bill it says they applied the LKA update...

Edit: I went and actually tried quite a few times intentionally directing it towards the line and it really never jerked the steering wheel. It was pleasant tug regardless of the angle at which the car was approaching the line. 👌So i guess they really applied the SCUK077. Also despite being the R24...I think the responsiveness somehow changed? Feels smoother too. So, I am a happy camper now because I still have the nice A/C image 😄

How do I know if they applied the SCUK077 apart from going for a test drive and intentionally try to pass the lane without blinkers? Is there a way to download the information regarding versions etc.?
How does the car drive? If you can identify particular faults then they will apply appropriate software upgrades. If you're not experiencing any faults then just enjoy the car.

Not sure, but maybe in the (not so) ‘secret menu’

Yeah, I just updated the previous post to tsedge. The car feels very good. Seems they really applied the recall update because I went for a test drive and the infotainment has become more responsive despite remaining on R24. So 😎👍

Just visited the garage, they can't fixed A11 and ask to book the car in next week. Tired with an A10 phone with same version of AA, it doesn't work, the AA doesn't even come up. A14 works well.
There's a new feature on R38, it shows distance in cm when reversing bar in red.
