The MG4 SE 1100R33 Infotainment Thread

As it is in the UK. But I was referring specifically to the software update regarding OPD - early cars in AU/NZ were supplied without it even though the spec sheet said it should be there, so they released an update to add it in.

(Posts should be read in context, not in isolation). ;)
Sorry. Should have noticed it.

For car module updates they need to plug the car in to the laptop, not just check vs the VIN on MG's server. The latter method is known to overlook available updates (such as SCUK001 which is a mandatory update, and which also makes ACC a lot better).
A long delayed update on this - just spoke to Bath MG, who say they applied SCUK001 back in September 2023 (according to the VIN check) - and yet my ACC mph toggle still goes up in 5mph steps rather than 1mph. It's booked in for some work in September so I'll try to insist they check this by plugging in the laptop.

I don't think the fix was even available in 09/23. I don't know why dealers try to "escape" from doing updates. There are cars that don't have OTA (even not on paper) and they have a good update systems and they call their customers to plan an update-service appointment.

At last! After Bath MG had the car today to fit the replacement driver's wing mirror, they applied software updates and I now have ACC shifting in 1mph steps toggling on the left hand joystick. My MCU is still showing as 69.3.8.0 so the update must work on modules that are not listed on the 'System' page. I'm hoping the update/s will also have toned down the automatic emergency braking, make the ACC smoother round bends and will make lane keep assist less kamikaze.

Mine has actually been kept in overnight. I think they managed the R33 bit today, and they definitely managed the undertray (according to the phone call), but they still have the charging port lights to do, and there's still some talk that the LKA update might happen.

I want the car by lunchtime, because although I'm sitting here shivering (central heating now turned on) looking at a dead sky and constant drizzle, the forecast for the weekend is spectacular and I want to go off tomorrow afternoon for a camp-in-the-car weekend in the western Highlands.

I have R33 but my MCU is 69.1.0.9 . What does that mean !!!!

The R33 is the software (like windows on a PC with some programs included)
MCU is the firmware (like the bios, tells it how to operate)
It has been known that newer software with older firmware can give ⭐ button issues

Caliban is now on R33. At freaking last. No issues so far except the volume control thing but I already knew how to handle that from @siteguru .

Currently at Stirling services for a coffee, en route for An Gearasdan.
Congratulations that was quick ?
I’m topping up here in Ballahuilish. I’m having coffee Magnette sticking to watts ?. 100%at home down to 60% here.
Glorious day

Caliban is currently supping up Tesla juice in An Gearasdan. When I asked Android Auto for Baile a' Chaolais it tried to send me to Ballyhooly in Ireland, getting there after one in the morning. So I gave that up pretty smartish.

I'm eating McDonald's, as the nearest place to the superchargers. I need to find somewhere to park for the night before eight, realistically.

Got my car back from 1st service today and it has 1100R33 Infotainment software. This thread is to record some details and observations regarding it.

  • Exact version numbers are MPU SWI69-29958-1100R33, MCU 69.3.8.0:

  • It has the new AC page, and the top bar is always visible:

  • And the AC popup is the new style:

  • As the top bar is always visible then there is easy access to the pull-down menu. This includes the option to turn off LKA (called LDP on the menu) - it works as per the Car screen menu and gives a Confirm prompt:

  • The left and right Star buttons now have the same three selection options:

  • I have the right Star set to AC and left Star set to Regen ... pressing the left Star cycles through the regen modes ... 3 -> A -> 1 -> 2 -> back to 3

  • ACC functionality is now inverted ... get to a speed, press the middle-left button and it engages at that speed. Press up/down on the left joystick and it now increases/decreases by 1 mph; press and hold up/down to change to the nearest 5 mph and increment in 5 mph steps.

  • When I got back home, locked then unlocked the car and sat in the driver seat I was presented with a setup screen - this was just to set the language, time zone and 12/24 hour clock.

  • I was also presented with the Intelligent Battery Heating prompt - I ticked the box and pressed Cancel.

  • I had to reselect my phone from the Bluetooth screen to connect, although it was remembered as a previously-paired device. Once done it synched and all seems OK.

  • Android Auto worked straight away when I collected the car. After doing the above Bluetooth procedure I checked AA again and it still works OK.

  • I had to redo all my radio favourites. The update wiped them out.

  • Edit: So far the radio has been off when I've unlocked and sat in the driver seat, even if it was on when leaving - need to monitor further. Still remaining off when unlocking the car and sitting in the seat.

  • Edit: I selected Sport mode on my drive home and then checked the Infotainment screen - it still showed Sport rather than switching to Snow like it did previously.

  • Edit: I don't have a USB pen drive with music on it so I am unlikely to test Folders - I never use that method for music; it's either Bluetooth or Android Auto.

  • Edit: I'm heading down to the homeland on Saturday so I'll check the SoC bar colour then.

  • Update: remote HVAC now works when plugged in but not charging. ?
That's what I have for the moment. If you wish to know anything, just ask and I'll see if I can check/remember what happened.

Edit: details of how the USB input now works for Music can be found in the post linked below:

Sorry to catch up with this thread so late but I was wondering whether someone could help.

It would seem I have a later entertainment version (SWI68-29958-1300R33) but my screens look nothing like this?

I find changing the AC from the main screen a real pain because I don't have a + or - button and have to control the fan through the slider.

Also, I believe there is a much simpler option to turn off the LKA and EBA then in the version I have?

Can someone advise the current version and the best way to approach MG to get them to run the update?

As you have the Trophy the latest version is R59. Complain to your dealer that the Bluetooth keeps dropping out and the DAB radio keeps losing the signal.

As per above. I've highlighted the important difference ... look at that vs the title of this thread. ;)

Just rang my local MG garage (Southport). They are saying the earliest they can book it in is the first week in October! What's people's experiences with their local MG dealers and booking in?

When I had mine done I called them in sept 2023 and earliest appt was jan 2024
They performed the upgrade well and I was happy with their service but they are a small garage.
