Do I vibe?

I will post in this thread tomorrow once i have driven it, if they have sold 15 with no problem then that is weird with your one, or i wonder whether some of those 15 have not picked up on it so far for whatever reason.
If mine has issues then Hendy would also be my go to to do anything about it as my local.

As long as you register your possible rejection within the 30 days does that not count? Then let them try and do something about it, starting with tyres and balance. ?
Correct - reporting an issue within the first 30 days stops the 30 day clock ... if it takes the seller longer than the 30 day window to effect that's their problem not yours.

The problem is that MG UK know about the problem but have no fix, or will not fix it.

They have also stated that we will just have to live with it as it is "just a characteristic of the car".

So IMHO I do not see any sense in asking a dealer to fix it. All we will get now is the run around back and forth to the dealer, frustration and a waste of time.

Recent MG UK response to someone on the vibration issue as posted on the Facebook Group "MG4 X-Power Vibration Complaints" :-

Extract :-

"....................It is important to emphasise that this vibration does not indicate any safety concern or compromise the mechanical drivability of the vehicle. As such, there is no repair required for this issue. The vehicle continues to perform within its expected operational parameters, and the vibration should be viewed as an inherent characteristic rather than a defect or fault................"

Make of that what you will ?‍♂️?

Yes, you are correct, I think this is just going around the buoy...the class action against MG UK has been started because they and the dealers will not fix it. You will get your tyres checked and then a steering damper fitted at the most.

Hendy Poole fitted a new set of Michelins to ours when we initially complained about the vibes (which aside from being far better performing tyres in all conditions, did reduce the vibration a bit) so worth pushing for these anyway, even if the OP later goes ahead with the rejection.

Mine is on a truck on its way to me now, due 1 to 3 pm so hope to have it up and past the magic MPH number well before tea?.
We have a nice 3 mile bypass dual carriageway with a roundabout each end 2 mins away so i will do a few laps and test the bugger out.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll get a good one ?

Took mine out for a good drive yesterday and a short drive today, both going through 60 to 70 mph quite regularly yesterday and not a sign of vibes.

Is this unusual where it was definitely there a few days ago and then nothing now, I know I didn't imagine things, it was on the same road I did this morning, vibes one day and not the next.

Yesterday's drive was "spirited" on 60 to 70mph roads, I wonder if this is unusual my vibes are due to something else, obviously the brakes got more use yestersay. Weird that they were at the magical 63mph+ though.

I was seriously considering reporting this, but now what happens if we can't reproduce it.

Fingers crossed for you my friend! - If there's a slight incline, this made it more noticeable for me. Only managed 70mph for 30 seconds today, it was... tolerable.... But still clearly there.

Good question. I have had it badly once, but it varies a lot. I can easily see a garage taking it for a drive and simply refusing to accept it's even there.

They won't refuse - the MG master tech there is well aware of the issue ;)

Get the issue logged 100% as soon as possible.

You may have had very light, flat spotting of the tyres.

Which would quiten down with a few miles.

One of the first things we blamed in "Ye Olde Dark Ages"

I did think about that, I believe the vibes got worse after my first few weeks of ownership and now are gone again. I was guessing that it would have been worse at the beginning if it was the flat spot issue.

I went out with a few mates on Saturday and they were there most definitely, close to the worst I've had but as I said no where near as bad as others. Come to think of it I wonder if it's additional weight in the car.

I'll continue to do some testing I think ?

When you say logged, is this by sending an email? (done) or do they need to review it physically. Just want to make sure I'm covered - this is my first time with a car that was purchased with a fault.

We blamed....

Flat spotting due to months being stored.

Poorly balanced wheels from the factory.

Poor quality tyre production.

Then came possible driveshaft/cv joint imbalance.

Poor quality components of the above.

I cited the very unusual position of the driveshafts in relation to the centre line from the drive unit.

I mean Tesla managed to line up the drive shafts OK.....

We also found out later that Stockton Rush had signed off all the drivetrain components as completely safe and fit for purpose.

The SAIC motive design team had spent a lot of time at the Ocean gate facility prior to the X Powers inception.

.....

Mine is the same ... sometimes don't notice it at all for about 10 minutes cruising at 70mph then suddenly get a niceley tarmacced uphill gradient and they are back with a vengeance - just steering wheel vibration on mine like an unbalanced wheel. 67mph-70mph on a constant steady uphill cruise definitely worst for me. Never tried it with a full back seat passenger and boot load - would be interesting to see if that made it even worse ?

Cracks me up?

Anyone familiar with Vibration White Finger? It's a condition associated with prolonged use of power tools and can involve vascular damage which can be permanent. It's usually a long term condition but some can be susceptible over shorter timescales especially if they have existing vascular conditions. So it's not just unpleasant and dangerous to drive with numb hands due to a persistent vibration, it can have health implications too.

Yes. I worked in healthcare for many moons. Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome is a thing. Whether the MG is enough to cause it, I'm not sure. Certainly felt like it going uphill, similar to my impact driver!

I couldn't comment on whether the above is a legitimate argument, but can comment that it makes it hard/uncomfortable to grip the wheel effectively, which in turn reduces the safety.

Maybe the steering wheel vibration damper change if it does not have it would solve this side of it.
Not the root cause but the steering wheel discomfort?
Can you feel in anywhere else, like thru your seat, arm rested on door feel it thru that, hand on dash, control stalks, centre console etc?
Asking so know what to check for and expect.

Not much cabin noise but it's no BMW. Then you go above 63 and hear MRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR and feel it in the wheel. No vibes for me elsewhere and if I hold the wheel high or low it's slightly less noticeable. 10/2 o clock is most intense.

That's my experience at least. Clear as day. Noisy car above 63, as if driving over a grid.
