I have had my car just over a week but have had issues with the alarm going off when it is raining.
The car is at the dealership and they can't find anything wrong. No rain past couple of days!!

Has anyone else had problems ??

Thank you for your response - the notification sent to my phone just says "illegal invasion warning" it hasn't happened since the car went back to the dealer but equally we haven't had heavy rain.

Had another convertible, it's alarm went off in heavy rain and wind, caused by the Pressure Sensor, the roof was flexing very very slightly, changing the pressure in the cabin.

Don't know what alarm type is fitted to our Cyberster's, could be Pressure and Motion, guess it's the same as other MG models, would hope dealers know.

Or as Leo said depends on the type of rain. :)

Hi, I realised that, I was alluding to the motion sensor, is it just motion, or a mixture of pressure and motion. Would hope the dealer would know.
There is a warning in the manual about water droplets on the car - QUOTE: "When washing the car, the movement of water droplets may cause a false alarm". I'd imagine the same would apply to rain water droplets!

But it's funny about the alarm. If I park somewhere and don't switch off the monitoring, the alarm goes on when it rains. Especially when I park the car somewhere outside, the full alarm should work safely and reliably, otherwise I don't need it.

Sensitive at least it'll go off if someone sits on it for a picture. people don't respect others' property.

Well last night and this morning the alarm went off 8 times. Finally had enough and braved the rain to disable the alarm at 5am. Taking it to the dealer on Wednesday next week. Hope they can sort it.

I took mine into the MG garage first thing yesterday (It's about 20 miles from home). I had a courtesy car and it meant I cold spend time with the local peregrines albeit the temperature was rather cold!). By 3pm I'd heard nothing and chased them. Basically they's not been able to "recreate the problem" - I realise the staff there are just using high level language to move conversations along but the fact that I'd had to chase them over several hours to tell me what was going on and then they effectively claimed they'd replicated heavy rain on the Cyberster did rather irritate me.
So the upshot is they still have it and have escalated it to the top MG UK technical lead - they claim MG aren't admitting others have reported this issue - I find this unlikely given this thread although it may well not be widespread but will depend where the car is parked when it is raining hard.

I also reported that the seat doesn't always go back when exiting - Again they couldn't replicate it!

From what I've experienced, the seat doesn't go back when exiting only when the seat didn't go fwd upon entering in the first place. Then to always have the seat go fwd on entry, press the brake before closing the door.

To be fair, it's usually the case, when taking an intermittent fault to the dealer or any garage. It just doesn't seem to do it. When they are looking for it. Although I agree you shouldn't have to chase them.
Hopefully you get a good outcome in the end. 🙂👍
