MG4 wipers

7000 miles in and mine are fine, maybe Ive been lucky
The originals on mine weren’t that bad, but the Bosch replacements are vastly superior

I’d say it’s more noticeable when the winscreen isn’t super clean or when using not great glass cleaning products.

I had run out of the Supagard glass cleaner and using the Simoniz one made me realise the wipers had a difficult job. So again it’s a combination of factors and so YMMV.

I bought some Bosch ones when mine started juddering and not cleaning so good.
They're still in the box, I ended up not fitting them as the originals improved 1000% when I changed my washer fluid to Prestone Winter mix, diluted it 50:50, with some Sonax additive in and a fizzy tablet off Temu.

Don't put silicone spray or silicone in any form near your windscreen or wipers. On a rainy dark night with oncoming traffic you won't be able to see anything.

[ Edit moderator: silicon → silicone ]

Never had that problem with silicone spray on a cloth and then a wipe on the contact edge of the blade. As clear as a new windscreen in the rain.

Even wiper manufacturers recommend the application:

"By learning how to soften windshield wiper blades, you can keep the blade smooth by treating the rubber lip with a special rubber care product or silicone spray about four times a year. This not only increases its lifetime, but also its sliding properties, which avoids squeaking and stops the wiper rubbing."

Have to admit my driver side wiper has a smear spot in the middle of blade. Waiting for some alcohol wipes to come, so will see if cleaning blade helps.
This is a common issue. I have the same and got the first set replaced by the dealer but the second set are doing the same now. I have to sort my own replacements as the dealer want to charge over £80!! robbery

I had the same issue, and tried Bosch A721S as suggested earlier - immediate fix and still working today. Cost about £20 a pair on Ebay.
Fitting them was no problem.

As an aside, eldest just got quoted £40 to fit a pair of wipers on his Hyundai i20 - parts extra, a joke.

Desperate times when they want to scam people for such a basic maintenance item that all drivers should learn how to fit themselves. Think about the amount of money that must get wasted giving into these demands.

I just ordered my set for £21 on Amazon. They offered different brands, still German ones but I wasn't 100% sure.

I feel that much of what I used to do as an average DIY-er is impossible now - and that means some garage cost can no longer be avoided.
But to be honest, stuff like wipers is just icing on the cake at £40 labour.

I almost ordered new A721S but then I realised that nobody was talking about left or right hand cars. So left hand cars need Bosch A295S
