Hi everyone
We picked our red ZS SE 2 days ago.
Loving the drive!
It's our first Hybrid and is so well equipped.
Just 3 things we can't work out.

Is it possible to scan DAB channels? Our available channel list is small with my favourite channels all missing.

The Automatic Lights green notification on the 7" screen keeps disappearing. Is this normal?

Does the car have auto stop-start? I see it's in the manual but can't find it in the car.

1. Regarding scanning DAB channels, I’m not sure I can help with this one, but perhaps someone else here has some insights or tips to share.

2. As for the Automatic Lights notification disappearing, could you describe more about when and under what conditions it happens?

3. Regarding the auto stop-start system, hybrids operate differently compared to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Instead of a traditional stop-start system, hybrids use their electric motor to handle idling or low-speed movement. The engine may not stop and start in the same way as an ICE vehicle because the electric motor and battery work to improve efficiency in those situations.

The green light icon appears only when the headlights are actually on to remind you that they are in automatic mode. The car doesn't have a stop start mode per se, it should go into EV mode when at a standstill depending on the charge state of the traction battery. Unfortunately I can't help with the DAB, I haven't played around with this much but I agree the amount of channels that the radio picks up is rather small. I've had my ZS for almost two months, I think it's a great car but somewhat quirky which isn't a bad thing

The start-stop makes sense now as in using EV at low speeds.
The auto headlights thing however was strange. I was driving at night, rain started and the wipers kicked in and at the same time the green 'a' notification on the top right side of the display turned off even though the lights remained on. I flicked the stalk to turn auto off and on again but the green symbol didn't reappear. When I ended the journey the lights turned off as usual and next morning the 'a' was back.
I will go out again this evening when it's dark and see what happens.
I mean it's not a biggie. I'm just seeing if there are things the manual skips as it reads like a Chinese teenager wrote it

Ah, sorry I thought you were talking about the green headlight icon that appears at the top right of the digital display and not the green 'A' icon. Apparently this means engine 'stop start' is active.

Once again, there is no start-stop system, as this is a hybrid vehicle! Such a system would be redundant because the primary engine driving the car at low speeds is electric.

There are two types of "A" indicators: one represents the auto high-beam lights, while the other refers to the auto-hold system.

The behavior of the auto high beams you described might be due to certain limitations outlined in the manual. I've attached the relevant chapter from the manual, which might help clarify the issue.

Last resort is to look at the manual, seriously.
The auto headlamp indicator top of screen towards the right. This indicates that the headlamp system is in auto mode. It comes on when the light level falls to the point that main beam is switched on when required. I.e. when there are no vehicles in front of you, or no vehicles coming towards you.
It’s not bad, it not like the magic headlamp controls on my BMW, but it does switch dipped to main beam, and back again, well enough that no one has flashed me.

Thanks again everyone! The green auto headlight symbol still comes and goes but it appears if it's raining AND the speed gets below 25 AND EV mode kicks in, it goes off.
It doesn't affect the lighting operation at all so I'm good with it.
I also found all the dab stations.
Now i don't know if I was being dumb or if they have appeared since doing a few miles, but for everyone else who may not have access to all the DAB channels, I simply hit the 3 lines with the S near the bottom right of the screen while on a DAB station and the local list is there but now I can scroll up, finding all tje national channel blocks and many county blocks close to Northants where we live. So happy days coz I love my digital music

It’s just a pity that something similar to a “graphic equaliser” has been omitted in the ZS Hybrid, whilst it’s on the MG3. MG appears to work in a mysterious way.

There is a video on this forum that's shows the graphic equalizer in ZS already so it's just a matter of update. Be patient, the car has been recently released so we just have to give a little confidence and patience to MG and hopefully all of the troubles will be solved soon.

I've had my ZS for a couple of months now and I'm still trying to get used to the techy stuff, it's not the most intuitive system out there but it certainly makes every journey more interesting. Me and my wife think it's a great car

It's crazy how much we got for the price.
I work for Cinch and have delivered many SUV's but the ZS stands out. I think the manual could be way better and an on vehicle inline help would be awesome but maybe it's coming in a future update.
We also looked at the Juke, the Cupra and the Fiat 600 but the basic version of each was lacking and the ZS rear passenger space, knocked socks off them.

Hi, I had the same problem, (MG ZS hybrid) hardly any radio stations found.

However, I drove to a different city, where I managed to scan and found many stations, added them to favourites. Then returned home and they all tune in from the favourites.

A strange way to do it, but it works.

Yeah thanks mate. We got there eventually while on the other side of town. I opened the DAB, all my favs and all the national channels were available.
