XPower Insurance Renewal Refused

Well knock me down and cover me in Twiglets(1), just had an email from them with a renewal offer fo just £343! Need to check the fine print methinks... but it's just possible they have genuinely "quoted me happy"! :D

(1) Other savoury snacks are available.

That is a fair price!

I thought my £376 was good. 👍

Renewals are rarely ever the cheapest option - even though (by law) they're not supposed to prioritise new business with special offers. (i.e. existing customers should be treated the same as new customers).
I think they can't offer a new customer a cheaper price than a renewal only if they go through the same sales channel. So if you got a good quote direct from the insurer last year but this year you find a cheaper quote than your renewal on confused.com for example, they don't count as comparable sales channels

Don't know your age, but have a look at Saga. The have a fixed price for 3 years

I am saving quite a bit on my 2nd year, every more hopefully in 3rd year

Insurance is now really expensive, whilst I got my Trophy for £475 in Feb this year BUT for example my house+contents (with out any claims being make made) renewal from £270 last year to £1029!!! I rang them up and they said it's because there is a small tiny brook 90m away and thus have increased the premium. This stream is a tiny brook, you can step across it in one stride but it appear this now warrants a £700+ increase. I tried look elsewhere but the companies all seem the same and charging excessive amounts, so renegotiated to insure the house minus flood damage which brought it down by £200 to £810.
I am dreading next year for both Trophy and house.
This is Insurance "American Style" . Shameless.
Friend of mine lives on the south side of a mountain in Nebraska. Fire risk upped his insurance costs four times now, effectively more than doubling it. There hasn't been a fire in 25 years...

It is. Bloody good! 🙂👍

Insurance companies can come up with any Bullshit they like, as to why they've raised insurance premiums.
But basically, it boils down to, they are legalised robbing Bastards. Simple's.
And they've got us by the knackers. And there's nowt we can do about it. 😡🤬

Insurance companies are taking the P*** !!
X Power last year on purchase Privilege refused.
Moved to Hastings with 24 years ncd zero points, and advanced driver. Premium = £360 FC pncd. Excess £250 + voluntary £500 = £750.
Yesterdays prices ranged from £750 - £1500 ! With an average £1000 excess.
I ended up with Aviva £750 annual payment £1000 excess.
I am SERIOUSLY considering binning the EV & getting a Golf GTD 😡

Agree. Except for the Golf GTD bit. 😉
And long time no see. How are you and the X Power doing? 🙂👍

I've just renewed with MyAviva Premium for £820, up from £720 last year. I could have got a bit cheaper but it's a good policy with all the extras and some other good free benefits like adding my childrens cars fully comp for five days so I can drive the grandkids to parties without changing car seats etc..😂

I don't think my postcode helps but given the Xpower is so cheap in so many other ways (cost of car, VED tax, cheap EV tariff overnight etc....) I don't mind paying a little more for insurance but I really feel sorry for new young drivers trying to get insured atm.

When we insured our X-Power this April it was around £300 cheaper than our outgoing Tesla model 3 SR - still way more expensive than equivalent petrol car but not unreasonable given the performance on offer.

In comparison, my 18 year old son who passed his test 2 months ago is paying £5500 per year on a 2010 1.1 Fiat Panda - kinda puts it in perspective!

Sort of does, when you put it that way.
But still doesn't justify insurance companies, Trebling or Quadrupling folks premiums. Basically, just because they can. 😡🤬

I got my insurance with Tesco (Oct 17th) at £378 up from £347 because Hendy Exeter would not let me take delivery a week later so I had to change the start date. The renewal for my Kia Niro would have been £147!! it is also electric but a hybrid and far more complicated mechanically. And with Tesco Insurance I have no longer insurance to drive another insured car with third party cover (not that bothers me). But judging from other posts I have done quite well!

That's cheap, one of my apprentices has just passed his test. Bought a Honda Jazz for £2,300. That will be £3,000 to insure sir! My daughter is paying just over a £1,000 to insure a New Beetle Cabrio. Luckily she built up a years no claims with her learner policy which helped. When she passed her test they offered to turn it into a normal policy for £4,500 (on a 1.4 VW Polo)

My 18 year old son is having to pay £5200 on a 1.6 Proton Satria - £434 per month. Crazy prices out there for youngsters.
