Checking whether the PD052 update has been installed.

I think that the frustration in the UK is coming more apparent. It appears to me that whilst Ireland, and the rest of the EU countries, and Australia, and New Zealand, are carrying out the update of the software, and resolving other matters, the UK isn’t.

I think you couldn’t be more accurate with your assessment. Customer service have not as yet replied to any emails I’ve sent enquiring about the loss of acceleration and will all new cars be automatically updated before leaving showrooms. To be honest… it probably should have been a recall situation. Anyway…. I’ll wait and watch before deciding if I want to re order.
Can I take this opportunity to ask you, how annoying have you found all the driver assist warnings and beeps and bongs. Is it intrusive and if so, can you quickly turn them off. I know it’s something that I’m probably going to encounter with most new cars as they try to meet stricter NCAP requirements.

My understanding is that it’s a legal requirement. They can be turned off, but you have to do it every time you start the car. I turn off the speed audio warning most times. The visual warning still flashes, and I ignore that at my peril.

Just watched a very recent review and it mentions being able to adjust the bass/treble etc. Wonder if that is in the latest update?

Around 16.30 in, doesn't show it unfortunately just discusses it.

Can I ask… is the audio system as awful as some people are saying? Seen several reviews where they comment on the sound being very harsh and exhausting to listen to for any length of time. This video seems to suggest that even after adjusting EQ (which many owners don’t seem to be able to access) the audio system still sounds pretty terrible.

Are you saying that I can't be trusted then.I can assure I did have the update I installed last Tuesday in a dealership in Dublin.Perhaps ring several of the Dealerships in Ireland and ask if they know about the update .They will confirm the availability. This forum is supposed to be a polite forum, but your comment is unbecoming.
Sorry if you are offended by my post.
You may recall Mickel's earlier post where he referenced my comments and you responded with "Sometimes posted comments need to be taken with a pinch of salt . People need to make up their own mind based on their own experience and not rely on posted comments. While forums are useful, sometimes those contributing are from the opposition".
Not very polite to a newcomer's post I think.
I did put a smiley face next to my "salty" comment as it was just a jokey retort.
Anyhow, no offence intended and hopefully we can all get the update asap.👍

Hi, it isn't too bad to be honest. Depends what you are used to. I'm a musician/drummer and like music loud in my car! I had an ix35 for the last 6 years, was just about acceptable and I'd say the clarity on the MG is better. At higher volumes not quite as good. But with no adjustments available I can't real talk about its potential. I would say for a general person who listens to the radio it is more than adequate.
I'm still getting used to drumming on the hexagonal steering wheel though

Cool. I’m a pianist / keys player so music is important to me. Having said that … never owned a car with high end Bose system or similar. As long as it is clear and is on par with most standard car audio systems that’s ok. Don’t necessarily want loads of bass. Just don’t want a car with harsh tinny audio system. I’ll go visit a different dealer and try it out. Forgot last time as I was to busy trying to understand all the assistive driving technology!!! I’m a simple musician. Feel like you need a degree to drive these new cars!!

wow so half of this thread > talking about sound quality haha

FYI last interesting thing noticed by french owners : PD052 may be effective and sometimes not at all... but for some without any good results, one guy tried something : disconnected the 12v battery in the trunk for 1 or 2h and that seeemed to clear / reset the systems, then the car was noticeably better in terms of power management.

Very nice, my wife is a pianist too so sound clarity is important to us. Actually considered the HS as it has 8 speakers but wasn't waiting for the hybrid, MG couldn't tell me a release date. If it helps she commented yesterday saying how much better the sound was. I think it is great on talk radio, ok for music.

Haha sorry, I think the hope is 2 birds one stone with the update

Regarding the sound system, to be honest there’s not a lot wrong with it as far as I’m concerned. I just expected some sort of graphic equaliser and was disappointed when I couldn’t find it. If, eventually, a software update includes a graphic equaliser. I will probably fiddle about with it and come back to the original settings.

So a reboot was all that is required and not the update.I. can tell you from someone that constantly tells staff under my care about rebooting EV buses ,that such reboots are only temporary and the issues require outside companies to investigate the issue.

Well this update can't come quick enough. What an awful drive on the motorway this evening. Revs went nuts, going from 2k to 5k revs in about 1.5 secs whilst driving at a steady 70 several times. Going up the slip road just as bad. Felt like unless I let go of the accelerator it would have gone higher not finding next gear. Not acceptable, as it isn't trivial, it is both bad for the engine and dangerous having to let go of acceleration because of it. Writing to MG (not the dealership who have been fantastic) in the morning. Needs more escalation. Will post my message here and any response.

Car needs national recall.

I’ve posted in the YouTube review comments, asking him to say how he adjusted the bass. I suspect he just thought it was possible, or dreamt he’d adjusted it.
I think he was overly critical regarding the quality of the sound system.

I'm having the same problem, I live in Sheffield and am surrounded by hills! The over revving is a massive problem and makes the car almost undriveable. The dealership have no answer for it and the reply I got from MG customer service was pathetic, suggesting that I book the car into the dealership and ask them to check for an update! I'm still waiting for the Service Dept to get back to me but don't have any confidence in them providing a solution in the near future.
I'm going to email the head of the dealership next to see what he intends to do about the issue.

Steve

The dealership should know if the update is available before you even check the car in.It is a yes/no answer.

I’ve had the pd052 update. And it is not fixed. If anything in dual carriage ways, it’s worse. Can’t remain at a constant speed. Cruise control seems to make it worse. It’s blinking awful.
