That was my reaction initially, but the instant fan on is growing on me. It's a bit weird getting out with everything still running, but I'm getting used to it. I think I need a few more trips before I decide if I'd prefer the start button or not.
The on is not as much the issue as the off part you can never really turn the car off when sitting in the car ..

Yes there is a power off button hidden through the menus but if you move in your seat the car starts everything again which is really quite annoying!!

Having had a recent update to R59, I notice that playing music via USB now ‘works’ for me. I have had folders from new (on R40) but my last track played is now remembered and I don’t have to start from an alpha-zeta list of all tracks and head down via sub-folders. The remembering even exists if I remove a USB stick and reinsert it later. For me, this is a big plus.
What I haven’t tried yet is seeing whether I can now get all my music tracks on to one USB stick. Because of the track limitation on R40, I have been using four of them. During the next couple of days I will put everything on to one USB, see if that now works and report back here - unless someone can tell me that does or doesn’t work with R59.
Tried my 11,000+ tracks on one USB stick. I think all the tracks are there and could be accessed sequentially, but I haven’t the time or energy to click next track forever. The main display shows “No Tracks”, so no joy and back to my four sticks with fewer tracks each.

In those circumstances the car is on, but not in ready mode until you press the brake pedal.
This lets you have the radio and heater on and the 12v battery is being charged by the HV, the downside is the DRLs are on. The main lights will also come on if it's dark but you can turn them off with the switch on the left stalk.

i understand that but at night its a bit annoying having the driving lights always on and the screen on !!

I'm a novice member, so...

  • When the wipers are lifted for cleaning or other reasons, do not automatically reposition them when sitting on the seat to avoid damaging the bodywork
  • Save as many car settings as possible to be restored after getting back to the car

thanks

You can swipe down and select screen off, this blacks out the screen and just shows the clock, but I’m not sure how much light this emits, so it may not fully help. And it of course doesn’t fix your problem with the lights either

A couple of points in addition to what's already been noted for Trophy/XPower:

Software related for car as-is:
  • Auto up/down function for electric windows, operated from fob close/open buttons (this has been standard feature on every car with elec windows that I've owned for the last countless years)
Future upgrade:
  • Additional front fog/driving lights

Yeah the wiper thing is very annoying. Scratched the bonnet when I took a seat to put new clips on the wipers and they came down.

I did promise to sort out the suggestions and maybe create a long list for a poll for a short list or something. Then I went away for a bit. Sorry. I'll read through what people have suggested and see what if anything needs to be done.

Established members who are MG4 owners are invited to edit this post to update the list of improvements. This must be a list of constructive suggestions focussing first on recognised problems.
Members ranked lower than Established Member can reply to the thread to suggest an edit to the wish list.
The suggestions should be ordered by most important first.

MG4 improvement wish list
  1. Better quality/softer materials to be used (on door cards, for example).
  2. A rear roof light for back-seat passengers.
  3. Fully Adaptive Headlights that turn with the steering wheel.
  4. Rain sensitive automatic wipers.
Without wishing to turn the SE into a Trophy, I (@Rolfe) would like to see
  • electrically folding wing mirrors
  • front parking sensors (same as the rear ones)
  • better sound system
  • fix the bug that doesn't let you turn off the automatic central locking
For all models, THE ABILITY TO TURN OFF THE DRLs WHILE THE CAR IS IN PARK, while leaving the car itself - with the HVAC and the entertainment systems - on.

Coulomb's wishes:
  • Fix the USB music player! There needs to be a way to play through a USB full of music sequentially, and remember where the player is at the end of a drive (and don't just start at the beginning of the remembered track, but where it stopped). My other MG (ZS Mark 1) does this just fine.
  • Fix the DAB station selection. I can save favourites, but I can't seem to select one, or scan easily from one favourite to another. With about 50 stations, most of them specialised for things I don't care about (sports, foreign languages...), it's very hard to find a station I want.
Hello, I have a suggestion too.
When I press and hold the vehicle closing/locking button on the key for 3 seconds, the open windows should also be closed. It can be done with simple software.

Also you can select clock not showing in settings display menu so screen is fully off.

Pin to drive would be nice too.

1). Driver Profiles so you don’t have to keep setting up the whole car on every journey

2). Start/Stop button so you can just unlock and sit inside and likewise power down easy

3). Ambient lighting - definitely would improve late night or night time driving as right now it’s just not a good place to be compared to many other cars.

4). Bigger Infotainment screen - with R63 - the AppleCarplay has been reduced to make way for a menu bar so you get even smaller spaces. Many cars now have a nice large unit.

5). Lower Brightness on Drivers Display - it’s just too bright and doesn’t offer a setting to go beyond the current lowest - and you see the light bleed so screen looks horrible!

6). Sunroof !!! - or at least glass roof. More light for summer days and won’t feel dark and cramped at times.

7). Better Sound System. It needs to have premium audio, at least even as an option.

Can't believe there aren't electric flip in door mirrors on the SE. I have to manually flip them in/out everytime in my teeny-tiny tetris 1970s garage. The last 3 ice cars I had ( all at least 15 years old) all had them and cost significantly less than the MG ( second hand admittedly 😂) . I didn't even think to check it when buying it, just one of those 'disappointed moments' when I got home. 😥

That's definitely one of my wish-list items too. It's an economy too far. Fortunately mine clear my garage doors unfolded, but it's still silly not to have it. It was my "disappointed" moment when I got home, too. That and the inability to disable the automatic central locking, but at least that's a bug they may fix some day.

The ability to save One Pedal Driving as the default.
I MUCH prefer it, but NEVER use it because you have to set it up every single time - even after you've just popped into the shop on the way home. Useless, as it is.

This would be a good one for the swipe down menu. In lieu of having driver profiles anyway...

The layouts of screens are pretty poor they look like very little thought has gone into it, they could easily be so much better. there is a lot of wasted space and crazy sizing on some of the information. no ability to change to different layouts skins types. *they really dont look futuristic, that is what i want! the leaf had a big blue bar that went up and down showing energy usage and regen was very satisfying! (although MG XS looks worse, big white car taking up the middle of the screen doing nothing). I was in the garage yesterday the cyberster has got some pretty interesting screens, my son must have opened and shut the doors on it 20 times whilst we were there!)
