Diagnostic VDI, VNCI, MDI with MG4

No, the LOU is a "List of Updates", it doesn't know which version got installed.
You can recover that from the BOM (i.e. production record of the vehicle) plus the update log.

Dealers are able to query past updates but that does not mean they are willing to provide you that list

Tech support resolved the "user logged in problem" and extended period.
But its not possible to reprogram or replace the unit (FDR) with wrong VIN,
the box with functions is empty when you select such ECU.View attachment 35245

I don't think SIPS allow recoding of an already coded unit. That is technically done to prevent part theft.

You have to corrupt the module firmware so bad that it doesn't recognise the old VIN as being written anymore.

I see. Thanks. Where is the update log? Is this the 'programming history' mentioned elsewhere in this thread?
Why might they be unwilling to share this information unless they had something to hide (e.g. that they have claimed to update an item but haven't). Wouldn't this be providing a worthwhile service to a customer at little or no cost?

corrupt? you mean virginize?
has anyone done that with bosch radar? or know of someone who can do it?

If anyone wants some night hours for online diagnostics, i am done and have some 8hours left.
Just PM me asap.

It is and yes, it would but still they won't provide it from experience

Thanks for sharing good to know that someone had a similar experience, I had done all you mentioned, but it crashes every time, sometimes within 5 min other times after 30-40 min :( Now I got advice that some modules might wake up the system and break the installation and I was suggested to try to disconnect some modules before the update so I eliminate the possibility of the system waking up.
Hi,

Im facing the same issue. Were you able to solve this?

Best see here
Post in thread 'MG4 Software Update Thread' MG4 Software Update Thread
I've used R46 but not R59

Format usb stick to fat32, copy files on it (in the root / not in a folder)
Put in car USB
Enter engineering menu
Install from USB

Would you be able to get the infotainment download for 22 zs trophy? R21 I believe

Hi,

I tried everything in reprogramming IPK but it always fails.
Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

Try repeatedly. It took 9 attempts to get my front camera module done.

A lock of the car, 12v off for 10mins, try again.
After watching the live canbus monitor I could identify a lot of errors due to timeout on the VNCI device.
I don't think it can handle the protocol properly. At this point and going through this thread it seems like they all suffer from the same issues, so I wouldn't recommend it...
I'm thinking about sending this back and buying the original interface.

You still haven't been able to recover FVCM with VNCI?

Are you using Wi-Fi or USB connection to the VNCI? I found Wi-Fi to not be very reliable and reverted back to a hard connection which worked flawlessly.

I have a feeling the original interface MAY suffer the same with how reluctant dealers are to apply new updates unless they have to. Pure conjecture - I wonder if anybody on the inside knows before you part with extra £££

Someone here from the forum who had the same issue with the interface already went to the dealer to do the corrections and the dealer did it.
The original programming interface is a Bosch, I doubt it would generate these errors so easily?
Either way, I'm in contact with VNCI support, let's see what they say....

You may be correct but I fear the whole setup may be rather erm poor again based on it being a tool that works with cars that basically are from the early 90s (I’m fairly sure the vci 1 is what they first used on the reworked Tfs - happy to be wrong though).

Anyhoo - I’m sure you have but just checking did you update the vnci firmware ? Have you got a charger on the battery too ?
