irrelevant as both will outlast the working life of the car where other components will fail beyond resosnable cost of repair well before either battery becomes an issue.

Depends on the amount of use.

For taxi, long-distance sales, delivery driving and other intensive users the NMC battery life might be an issue. Trucks will use LFP for this reason. Though NMC lifespan matches an engine I would expect.

However, for most people who pootle around their town the longevity of battery isn't an issue at all. If anything it is a shame not to use them more than they are!

Such as? For what I've researched the two components that are likely to retire your car are either the battery or the transmission. There's nothing else.

There are reports of MG4 with NMC batteries having 90%+ SOH with 250k km driven.

over 400,000kms on Teslas after 10 years and still going very strong with same n
battery tech from same supplier. So yes, there is nothing else apart from the transmission, electrical auxilliary systems, chassis and transmission that will likely fail first. Current LFP tech is lower cost to make, that's why you find it in base models as it has a lower energy density and sutiable for lower kw applications. Both LFP and NMC won't be an issue in any current EV duting normal lifetime use.

I have 2 x Gen 2 Prii (prius multiples) one 1 yrs old with 762,000km and the other 19yrs old and 356,000kms. The high km one is an ex taxi and off the road at the moment ..... cause I stole the front brake pads for the other Prius on a long weekend. 've since pinched the hybrid battery and the LFP 2nd hand cells 12v battery ...... so it needs to go back on the road before I cannibalise it any further
The point is, electric vehicles will last a long time, but by the time they need a replacement battery, they will be common at the parts dismantler's yards from crashed ones ..... if they haven't all be absorbed by those building house storage batteries of course

So, end of life could be a lot longer away than some think ....... the economy might revert to recycling or holding onto the vehicle rather than the regular refresh cycle we have at the moment ........ I have my doubts this latest mess is going to just settle down and fade away to the history books as a half page entry ....... this will be the crash that the last one wasn't, the govt doesn't have the funds or support to bail out the big financial institutions this time, the top end house of cards (as in credit slips) will come crashing down and take the big money lenders with them ......
