You dealer can measure it or you will need to use an OBD2 port scanning device to look at it yourself.Where do I look to see this?
Such as? For what I've researched the two components that are likely to retire your car are either the battery or the transmission. There's nothing else.
Glad to see someone else who runs cars as we do (as my parents also did)The three cars I've seen right through to end of life were retires on entirely different issues. Two because of bodywork, and the third because of a number of issues which together make it an attractive prospect to send it to a scrappage scheme that was in force at the time for £2,000. All of them had functioning engines and power trains at the time.
