Should I get an Xpower?

Did my first launch control launch today for a few months, at lights in a 30 zone with average speed cameras and into a bus lane that allows ULEV. 0-30 in 1 and then sail past the ice standing traffic, lol, love it.

I do that with the 51, no launch control but have to be real careful to stay under the 50km/h so I don't get a speed camera photo to remember the event ;)

Remember telling the story of taking on a V6 Holden Commodore (well known for their off the mark speed) in my wife's Holden Barina (1.4ltr pocket rocket, but not known for it's outstanding traffic light racer ability) they all looked at me like I telling them some B/S, then I added, reckon she was in the next post code before the Barina even reached the white lines ...... I thought some of them were going to choke :ROFLMAO:

Hi,

I can get a stonking deal on an Xpower at the moment (£25300 new). I’m aware of the potential vibration issue many are experiencing so have factored that into my decision (thanks for advice already given on that subject in another thread).

I already have an MG4 SE, so I’m aware of the general shortcomings of the MG4 and I can live with those.

I’d appreciate feedback on things people don’t like or have had problems with specifically with the Xpower, like; harsh ride quality, excessive rattling, bonkers insurance quotes, general hate from BMW drivers? 😂, anything other the infotainment being crap and the sort of things I’m already used to. I’d also like to know about positive stuff!

I’m pretty close to pulling the trigger on getting one in Camden Grey. I got an SE to escape my lemon Curpa Born, expecting not to like it, but I’m really happy with it!

Should I upgrade? I really don’t want a repeat of the Born experience! For the vibration issue I’ll get it in writing before signing for it that they will fix it if it has that problem within a month or I want my current car back. I’ll ask for the same written agreement about the latest updates for the car. Though to be fair the dealership I’m using is really good for after-sales support!
£25k for a new one is pretty much a no brainer even with the known issues.

Mine has arrived at the dealers. Paid the rest of the deposit and they brought it around for me to look at. Isn’t prepared yet but looks great. Very chuffed with the colour!

Collect it on Thursday 😁👍
Oh mate, a few sleepless nights while you wait, and that Camden Grey is a superb colour. 😎

There's an orange Trophy frequently parks not too far from me. It's like a beacon, lights up the entire neighbourhood. I've never seen an orange XPower though, actually I've never even seen another XPower in the flesh (metal?).

Exactly, easy to find in a crowded, car park. 🙂👍

I was disappointed to pass an Xpower in Camden Grey in the next village over from mine today. Also followed a Matte Green on Thursday. Swear I never saw them until I picked up mine Monday.

That's generally the case. Don't see um until you get one yaself. Although I've had mine 6 months and only saw 3 other X Power's. 🙂

Haha, I’ve not seen an orange XPower in person. Looks good on pictures though 👍 It’s a very bold choice!

I’d never seen one in Grey until seeing mine today so was glad I liked it so much 😁👍
Absolutely no evidence of this , but I reckon the grey and red have tougher paint finishes.???? than the other colours.

I’ve only seen two on the road

No idea yet but the last few cars I’ve had were stone chipped to death in the first few weeks. I doubt this one will be an exception so I’ll soon find out 🙁

My current car got hit by a micro-boulder on the first trip to work that took a nice chunk out of the paintwork. It has had plenty since. It’s white so the silver undercoat really stands out. Guess they won’t be so obvious with grey paint!

I really don’t have much luck with new cars and stone chips. I bought a new Golf and needed the windscreen replaced in the first week. That got hit again in almost the exact same spot within a month but wasn’t so bad and was repaired. I had a red Polo GTi that looked like someone had been flicking cigarette ash on it by the time I traded it in 🥹

So mine’s just coming up to 6mths old with 7k miles on the clock and just noticed three stone chips on the front that have all appeared since the recent cold spell and when there’s been loads of gritters out on the road. Not very happy! 🤬

I feel your pain but I’ll probably have that many by next weekend 😂

My SE is almost 2 years 2 months old (i.e. owned by me) ... I've not looked closely but I can't see any obvious paint chips when walking past my car.

Collected it today! My god they are quick!!

Unfortunately I seem to have lost the vibes lottery 🙁 It’s not really like I expected and more like a wheel balancing thing between about 65 - 70; shaking rather than vibration. Seems worse under acceleration. I’ll get on to them about it but it’s not something I can’t live with from my initial experience of it.

Bit annoying it’s got that but otherwise I’m loving it 😁
