Should I get an Xpower?

Collected it today! My god they are quick!!

Unfortunately I seem to have lost the vibes lottery 🙁 It’s not really like I expected and more like a wheel balancing thing between about 65 - 70; shaking rather than vibration. Seems worse under acceleration. I’ll get on to them about it but it’s not something I can’t live with from my initial experience of it.

Bit annoying it’s got that but otherwise I’m loving it 😁

Your in the Honeymoon period m8, I get it.

But don't not complain.

My rejection is ongoing and I'm stating future wear and tear amongst other things.

I've driven my mate Dougs X Power and his is vibe free.

Exactly as it should be.

Obviously, up to you what you do, but it's not right.

Glad your loving it, they are awesome! 🙂
But sorry to hear you've got the dreaded vibes. 🙁
First thing to do, pump your tyres up to 40 psi. Might help a little. 👍

Agreed.
Epic car, and not just for the money.
I mean, I've banged on long enough about my car on here.
It is most excellent. (Apart from yada yada)

Not getting overly excited to see the X Power wearing new clothes later on this year, and I certainly won't be the bloody first to buy one this time!!!

The interior will be a bit nicer if the ES5 is anything to go by, and if they sort out the wheels (that fill the arches a bit better) some styling, X Power individuality, and under 40K, then I might have a nose in two years time when they start giving them away! 🤣

Will, definitely have a good test drive in One though, Chris. It would be rude not to.
😉🙂👍

I’ll speak to them about it tomorrow. I went for another try and it’s quite bad. Starts about 65 but seems to keep doing it past the normal speed with a passenger. Will try pumping the tyres up and see what that does.

Yes.
40psi is a good start.
Plenty to read on here about it as I'm sure you're aware. 👍

Just went to try 40psi and they were only 32 all round! Thought I’d try starting at the 37 on the plate for low loads and it’s much improved. It’s definitely a car with the problem but it’s not something so bad it would drive me nuts at 37 compared to how it was with them under inflated.

Will try 40psi next but will get on to them about it anyway and see how that goes.

Definitely a good idea to register your concerns with them. I registered my concerns, even though I didn't really have any. But worth it just in case. They even got me the steering damper to fit. But I decided against it. Because certainly in my mind, there was nowt wrong with mine. And also I have read the Steering Damper actually makes things worse. 🙄🙂👍

Bad times. Are you sure you aren’t just hyper sensitive to it because of your knowledge from the forums? I have either been lucky or just don’t hit that speed range often enough. 12 days in to ownership and smile still hasn’t left my face when driving it!

Unfortunately not, you can see the passenger seat shaking if there isn’t anyone sat in it. It seems much better now the tyres are at the correct pressure though.

It does happen beyond the speed people normally say it stops though so could be a deformed tyre or a wheel balancing problem. It does feel more like one of those two things. The steering wheel shakes, it doesn’t really vibrate as such but you can feel it through the seat and your feet too.

At 37psi it starts at 66 mph and I’ve not fully established if it completely stops at certain higher speed. The odd thing is that once it’s fully started doing it, it doesn’t stop until about 5 mph below the speed it started.
I’ll be on the motorway for a while tomorrow so will get a better idea about it.

It’s bloody great apart from that though! Not that different from the SE, nicer inside, a bit more planted and the front feels a bit heavier but still a nice relaxing car to drive that doesn’t make you want drive aggressively. But plant that accelerator pedal and it’s off like a scolded cat. The acceleration is mind boggling 😁

Wasn’t trying to play it down and I hope the tyre pressure helps that others have suggested. We are but only human, I rarely venture on motorway so I may just not experience it very often. Glad you are enjoying it though. Did a launch with my 14 year old in the car the other day and I quote ‘it is like a ride at Alton Towers’. That will do me 🤣

Nah, don’t worry, i didn’t think you were trying to play it down, I get what you meant.

“Like a ride at Alton Towers” is a good description 🤣

Looks like I’ve got a pre-factory fix one after all that. That MG VIN checker said September 2024 but the certificate of conformity in the glovebox says 07/03/2024. It still got the strong new car smell, so surprised it a year old.

Looks like old stock lying around being the real reason it was so cheap might be true.

It’s going in for the damper in just under two weeks and if that doesn’t work I’ll tell them I want whatever the fix is at the factory done to it or probably look to reject it.

Very tempting to put up with it though as I don’t do much motorway driving.

Mine was almost a year old when i got it new, i am surprised they are sitting on cars that have been built that long ago TBH.
It is a bit strange. Especially since people have been getting more recently built ones. You’d think they’d sell them in the order arrive.
