efficiency
Efficiency is the often measurable ability to avoid wasting materials, energy, efforts, money, and time while performing a task. In a more general sense, it is the ability to do things well, successfully, and without waste. In more mathematical or scientific terms, it signifies the level of performance that uses the least amount of inputs to achieve the highest amount of output. It often specifically comprises the capability of a specific application of effort to produce a specific outcome with a minimum amount or quantity of waste, expense, or unnecessary effort. Efficiency refers to very different inputs and outputs in different fields and industries. In 2019, the European Commission said: "Resource efficiency means using the Earth's limited resources in a sustainable manner while minimising impacts on the environment. It allows us to create more with less and to deliver greater value with less input."Writer Deborah Stone notes that efficiency is "not a goal in itself. It is not something we want for its own sake, but rather because it helps us attain more of the things we value."
Is the efficiency value being displayed calculated using velocity, acceleration/deceleration or are there actual sensors that measure power consumption and regeneration? Sometimes it feels like the car is creating energy out of thin air during the regeneration phase when going downhill after a...
Hi all, I have been using my 51 kWh MG4 EV Magnify iSmart (I guess the Trophy Standard Range in many countries) for 2 weeks and 1200km in Indonesia and have been loving it so far. I just have several issues, starting with the range.
I believe in the UK the rated WLTP is at 218 miles, which is...
Hi all,
Brand new MG4 SR owner here. As an EV newbie I'd like to know if its normal to have this low efficiency at this time of year. Below is a typical shot of my work trip that is about 12 miles, the average speed being 39mls/h with the energy consumption of 2.6mls/kWh. It's been quite...
Commute down the A41, into Chester to pick up daughter and out to Ellesmere Port. Roads were busy but not clogged but it’s nice that all that power can still return pretty respectable mi/kwh efficiency I guess. Second full day of ownership and this is what I’m up to?! ?
Just watched the above, first released a couple of weeks ago. Interestingly the MG4 LR was only beaten by Tesla in miles/kWh at 4.1 vs 4.3 and 4.7. Coincidentally my accumulated average is 4.1 too.
Hi All,
My first post after lurking for a while.
I'm wondering about my MG4 Trophy's efficiency. I got the car about 3 months ago, and I drive with strong regen always on, and recently I've tried to remember to set the car to Eco mode (why on earth doesn't it stay on between drives! And also...
Hi guys,
Quick question!
I’ve got a 2019 ZS EV Exclusive 44kwh.
Only had it a couple of months, but I’m really enjoying it.
I’ve been getting almost bang on the stated 160 mile range. Combination of charging at home (with the granny charger) and at rapid chargers.
Today, I’m charging it...
I have ZS Trophy LR for 5 months. I drove 1700 miles. My electric driving efficiency was 3.9 mls/kWh for 100h of driving.
My best efficiency was on 20 mls round trip to work: 5.5 mls/kWh to work, 5.6 kWh back home in July.
My best motorway efficiency was 100mls round trip to Gatwick Airport...
I have a Trophy and being tight try to get the most out of my quids worth of kWh. The NMC battery is more energy dense the higher the SOC. So you get more m/kWh the higher the SOC. So for the best m/kWh use the top end of the SOC and recharge before it gets low (less than 50%). Biggest problem...
Had a return journey of 25 miles in and out Manchester including city drive and motorway. 5 mile/kwh is decent. Considering the size of the car, the efficiency is very impressive. Love my MG ZS.
So picked the Trophy up yesterday and had a run today from Manchester to south Shropshire on a mix of motorway and A roads and got 4.4 mikes/Kw which thanks to the warm weather I don’t think is too bad - had to run the A/C as it’s so hot?
Pleased to see I got 7 KW regen too
Sorry for the...
Apologies if this has been covered previously. I have a second generation long range and have started to use the autohold function a bit more recently. I noticed that waiting at lights etc if I were to put my foot on the brake instead this would still use some energy whereas the autohold would...
Just got a ZS EV and loving it. However, coming from a fossil car and my “only use AC when the outside temperature is above 24 degrees, to save fuel” mentality, does the same apply to EVs?
Is it more efficient, conversely, to just set the climate control to a temperature and leave it in auto...
Since I got my LR , now a month . Whenever I check the regen benefits it shows dashes.
I keep the charge well under 80%, and had many journeys with battery within 20%,
So should be enough space to get the regen in. Why is it not recording ....
I've read quite a few posts on here around how larger wheels affect efficiency, can anyone supply some science to collaborate this as if the overall diameter remains the same how can the efficiency change. I ask this as it's now confirmed that the my23 cars will come with larger rims but the...
We’re really enjoying our new MG. 890 miles now from new as a pre-reg with 6 miles on the clock.
I’d be really grateful for any thoughts please. . .
I did a balance charge after 712 miles on our granny charger overnight yesterday and travelled 89 miles straight after this morning using 39%...
Hi everyone,
I've had my ZS SE LR since the end of November and I'm loving it so far.
However, I've noted quite a big difference in the amount of electricity my zappi charger says it has put into the battery and how much the battery % has increased. Does anyone know what the round trip...
