    Auto hold on MG evs

I had a test drive in a ZS SR yesterday. I wasn’t in the best frame of mind and didn’t enjoy the drive so I’m going to go back and try again, probably at a different dealer because that was why I wasn’t in the right frame of mind by the time I got in the car. One thing I want to ask, the car I...

All MG EVs should be recalled because of the charging problems

There is an issue that some some chargers cause some MGs to throw fault codes and be immobilized. Some roadside solutions sometimes work but if it strikes be prepared for a trip in a recovery vehicle. MG Tech seem to be overwhelmed, pretty poor and very hard to get hold of. MG dealers are...

Last of the cheap EVs ?

Is the outgoing MG5 the last of the 'cheap' over 200 miles EVs ? The facelift ZS is more expensive than the Gen 1, which in turn was more expensive than the 5 to start with and I'm sure the facelift 5 will be more expensive than the Mk1 MG5, SR or LR.. I think we all know that we need more EVs...

    What’s Bringing Out the EVs?

Being a bit of a nerd and now a convinced proponent for the use of Electric Vehicles, I like to count how many ‘Green Flash’ cars I notice on my travels but of course any older EVs escape my count as their number plates predate the use of this identifying mark. Today, just got back from a trip...

MG forced to stop selling Petrol cars due to demand for EVs!

Apparently, MG have already met their 2022 sales targets so have stopped selling / making petrol cars and will only sell EVs. They blame exceptional sales creating a delivery timescale of >1 year and the need to ensure EV credits...

    Crashed EVs

I have bought two crashed MG ZS EVs from auctions. One is a frontal collision, the other side. Plan is to build one good one and use the leftover parts for an EV conversion of my existing car. But my question is about collision status. I took delivery of the frontal impact one today and got it...

Seeing more and more EVs around - very rarely a MG

Mostly in and around the Cardiff area I see quite a few Teslas and one or two Leafs (Leaves?) but also much more variety from the other manufacturers. However I've only seen one MG5 (just once) and I see one EV ZS occasionally. Where are all the MGs? Decent range, decent price and one of the few...

    Skoda’s Next Three EVs Announced.

I have to admit that I am a fan of Skodas! Over ten years, I owned three of them, including two Yetis and before I bought my present MG5LR, I took a Skoda Enyaq for test drive, being very impressed by it but…….not by the price and the size! Just a bit too expensive for me as well as being a...

    Solar and EVs

I saw this week's podcast and the discussion about EV owners considering getting solar. For me it was the other way around. I got solar first and then tried to buy an EV. Here in Thailand MG includes an MG wall charger and installation with the purchase (would be pretty difficult to buy one...

Power draw with two EVs charging simultaneously

So impressed with the Octupus EV tariff! Two EVs charging simultaneously during off-peak EV hours! I had two chargers installed - one front and one in the garage. Both pulling 32A continuously! I have a two phase 120Amp combined single phase supply, so have headroom for a third if needed ?
