MG4 Trophy LR
Hello, my new Trophy LR is currently on order through arval

I'm going to be putting the dash cam from my current car into it plugging into the cigarette socket

Does the 12V cigarette socket switch off when the car is turned off or would I have to unplug the dashcam each time? Or does the 12V draw power from the HV battery

Couldn't find answer searching sorry

Pretty sure the 12v plug is on a switched circuit. There are a fair few threads talking about dashcams around, you might be able to find a definitive answer using the search function.

The USB ports are all switched, so I’d be surprised if the 12v plug is different.

1, 12V cigarette socket will OFF by lock vehicle
2, Except for some special cases, it is supplemented by HV battery

It goes off but IIRC there's a short delay on the 12V socket going off after you switch the car off.

My dashcam is on the 12V, powers up with bum on seat, then does a reboot with traction power activation (foot on brake). Turns off with full power down (locking car)

Hi
Not sure if the MG4 has this but my ZS has a usb socket in the rear view mirror where it is mounted on the black box on the window on the drivers side so you do not need to run cables around the car and it is switched on and off.

The MG4 doesn't have one. :(

But it's feasible to fit your own - you just need a 12V/5V buck converter, a female USB A socket with wires, and the means to splice into the wires inside that light assembly area in the roof liner. (Or there's an adaptor available somewhere that fits into Molex socket and provides the 12V connections).

My dashcam is connected in this way on my MG4 and definitely switches off with the power down.

Yep that's what I did. Powers off each time

Yes I can confirm- had my dash cam plugged in to the 12V cigarette socket for 2 years- it switches off when the car off and locked.

Yes the 12V socket does turn off when ignition is off. I also used the 12V socket for my front and rear dash cam, it's a bit fiddly routing the cables under the roof lining, through the boot lid to neatly exit the grommet just above the centre of the rear window glass. I put some silicone grease on the cable to pass it through the tight flexible rubber cable conduit, from the rear right pillar to door itself.
I read somebody used washing up liquid, but didn't want to risk it degrading the cabling over time.
