I am using a Bluetooth dongle to connect my phone to the car. I can play any playlist but not the radio stations offered. Just a message on screen - This service is not available (currently?). Anyone else have this issue.

The radio will not play either, stations can be selected but nothing from the speakers, which work with Amazon playlists and Voice assistant. I have toggled the RH steering wheel button to ensure that mute is not operating.

Out of interest, why are you using a Bluetooth dongle?

I gave up with trying to use the original samsung phone USB cable to connect - it would just drop out after a few minutes - tried multiple quality cables too - the dongle remains connected as long as I drive and all other google features seem to work.

So a dongle specifically for Android Auto rather than a dongle to replace the phone to car Bluetooth connection? That would make sense. I’d want to get to the bottom of the cable issue if it were me, these dongles can introduce their own problems.

I think that's right. Car back to dealer shortly to "fix" niggles and this too. Are you connected with your phone? If so, which cable specifically, I'll try one more. The phone connects to Android Auto - the dongle to Apple Carplay - same screens, different layout.

I use iPhone, I did have some cable and CarPlay connection issues until the latest software update. I purchased the Carlinkit 4.0 for wireless Apple CarPlay - I returned for refund, so glitchy for me.

I was really frustrated with Android Auto initially as it kept dropping out and not responding to voice commands. There are a lot of settings in a sumsung phone that need to be enabled. One I set is a routine to automatically turn on Spotify, or in your case Amazon Music when connected to MG. The most important setting for me was to set MG4 as a trusted place. So when I get in the car I unlock the phone and once connected it stays unlocked, automatically starts Spotify and responds to my voice commands throughout my journey. Took a lot of experimentation to get it working perfectly which it does now.

Yes, I have the same issue: Amazon offers you a song or album but it actually is in the "unlimited" catalog, so it cannot be played. You get that stupid misleading message which sounds like a connectivity issue when it is just Amazon being annoying

Just received the ultimate USB cable from Amazon as recommended here earlier - nice red one - connects immediately but drops out after a few minutes. I'm going to get the dealer to look at it - might be the socket. Will also try the trusted place setting once I figure out how to add a car as a place.

Your phone has to have previously been paired with your Samsung so it shows in the list of devices.
Settings-Lock Screen-Smart Lock-Enter Pin-Trusted Devices-MG
It may vary slightly from Samsung to Samsung but this was the setting that solved all my Android Auto problems. I don't bother with the Hello MG thing.

You mean pair the Samsung with the MG - I have done this but will try pairing before connecting - or maybe delete all history and start again. I am encouraged by your success! Thanks

Try changing the car's Bluetooth name, forget the old (MG) name, and re-pairing?

Some progress - tried the repairing - on my Samsung S20+ with fluff-free socket connects but drops out within a minute - tried my wife's S10 which connected and stayed connected for almost an hour. Makes me think perhaps the phone is the issue. I un-paired all other connections just in case but no impact. I'll get the dealer to wrestle with the problem. If it's my phone....not sure what to do but we'll see. I'll report back.

That's where I'm at, I guess. Phone doesn't have Android Auto, but perhaps more importantly, flatly refuses to export its contacts list to the car.

Have you tried hoovering the socket on the phone in case there's any more fluff deeper in it ?

Some progress - Samsung users report an issue with the S20+ connecting reliably to Android Auto - suggesting a short term fix of enabling USB tethering on the phone. I tried this and surprise, it worked, this time for about 15 minutes when it turned USB tethering off by itself. I then tried Bluetooth tethering instead and this worked for a longer period, disconnecting after about 30 minutes although tethering remained turned on this time (just not connected). So it might well be something to do with the Samsung itself.
