My Moto phone Android Auto was updated yesterday. Since then every time I open iSmart near the car AA notifies me that I cannot connect wirelessly because my phone is not 5GHz WiFi capable. The phone shows no Bluetooth connection with the car.

Anyone else have that problem or found a way of stopping AA reminding me?

EDIT: If I switch off the phone's Bluetooth and deny iSmart's request to switch it on AA does not start. If I allow iSmart to switch on the phone's Bluetooth and quickly scan the car AA does not connect; however if I go back to the home page and do a successful rescan AA starts. It appears that AA will not start until the MG page is updated.

The AA start setting is 'default (set by the car). Other options are 'Always' and 'If used on the last drive'. Further tests required.

I don't plug in my phone to the car until the Infotainment has started up, and don't have Wireless AA enabled in the phone. ?‍♂️

The only time I use AA is to 'repair' the Bluetooth connection when the car wants to pair again. The Bluetooth then connects and I remove the cable. My phone cannot connect wirelessly and I thought the car does not support it.

I just wondered if others' phones start AA when iSmart is started within Bluetooth range.

EDIT: I believe I am only seeing the AA icon because my phone is not capable of a 5GHz connection, more modern phones will not have this issue. But is it that starting iSmart allows a Bluetooth connection if some sort but without a Bluetooth indication and AA picks this up and auto starts?

I can't say I've ever seen anything like that, and my phone is older and only runs Android 10

So, from that I surmise that if your phone has 5GHz WiFi capability AA detects a car connection, through iSmart or Bluetooth, and is available to connect wirelessly without notification. As my phone does not have the WiFi capability AA tells me I need to connect with a cable.

I think the recent AA update created my phone's issue with iSnart but it makes me wonder whether the update just added the notification or something more.

Anyway thanks for the replies.
