Is there any way to adjust the voice guidance volume when using Android Auto? Changing the volume while Waze directions are being spoken shows the voice guidance volume level but makes absolutely no difference to the actual volume, which can only be controlled via the media volume. Voice guidance is either too loud when listening to podcasts or too quiet while listening to music. Volumes could be adjusted independently on my previous car so I know it's not a Waze / phone issue

Adjusting either volume works fine for me when using Google Maps and Spotify, so the options are there. However not used Waze for guidance, so cant comment on that Im afraid.

Depending on software version there can be up to 3 ways to get to change the volume:
The Sound settings page
Swipe down (outside the HAVC controls section) from the top of the centre display home screen
Use the steering wheel volume adjustment when a direction is being spoken

With the volume settings I think it is the vehicle alerts that is for nav and connected devices

Change the volume while the android auto voice is speaking and it should remember the setting.
That's how I've been doing it but it makes no difference

I don't see Voice Guidance volume in sound settings, just Media & Phone Volume

I'm using Waze via AA, and using the right joystick to toggle up/down does raise/lower the voice guidance whilst the voice is playing. ?‍♂️

I find if my phone volume is muted when I connect then I do not get any voice guidance, however if I press the speech search I can hear the Google voice. If I use the right joystick I just unmute/raise or lower the dab radio or ehatever media i was listening too but never the AA. The phone volume rocker will not work when connected on android auto, disconnect and raise the volume on phone then reconnect is the only way to adjust the maps volume. To be frank this is worse than useless. My 12 year old volvo handled Bluetooth connections better.

I've not come across that problem; the phone connects at a consistent volume, whatever the phone volume level setting.

Does it work ok with Google Maps as that is what I use and I can adjust the volume.
You say you’re sure it’s not an issue with Waze but Android Auto and Waze get updated regularly so perhaps a bug has been introduced.

It's the same with Google Maps. I did wonder if it a Waze update coincided with me getting my MG4 but apparently not.

Is your Android Auto app up to date on your phone?
Which software version do you have on your MG. Mine is R21 and it works ok.

Android Auto is up to date; however, the MG version is only R13 & says no new versions available.
R13 refers to the infotainment software version and as MG don't do over the air (OTA) updates you'll have to take it to a dealer to get it updated.

In my experience, voice guidance from Google maps on Android Auto can’t be heard at the same time as the radio on R13 infotainment version. The radio volume dips during a guidance but you still can’t hear the guidance instruction. It seems the sound from Google maps does not mix with the Infotainment screen radio sound. If you play some media from your phone, eg a podcast or a Spotify tune, before opening google maps you can then hear voice guidance but no radio. Apparently this R13 fault is fixed by a software upgrade to version R33 but it is not easy getting dealers to do the update.

I can't comment re. R13 as I use GMaps when I had it, and never used audio guidance. Since having R33 I have tried audio guidance in both GMaps and Waze, and it is as previously said - toggle the volume up/down as the guidance as speaking.

@Rolfe you have R13 still (I think) ... do you hear audio guidance using GMaps or Waze?

I'm still on R13 on mine and audio instructions only come through using Google maps and Waze when playing/streaming music from the phone. If the radio is playing the radio volume decreases when an audible instruction is played but the guidance is not heard.

It's going in for the second service on Friday and I've requested update to R33 and told them of the above fault as well as Bluetooth issues so we will see what happens.

I also have a Carlinkit 4 and this works perfectly with Google maps and Waze - when radio is playing the audible guidance works as it should!

In my ZS EV, guidance volume is independent of music/radio volume. If you change the volume while it's guiding, that will change the guidance volume, but you have to be lightning quick. There is a guidance volume setting in the Sat Nav menus.

Is there a way that we (owners) can find out which software version is in use on our car?
