Apple CarPlay USB disk identification failure

Hey all!

I haven’t had a problem with my Apple CarPlay until the last couple of weeks. When I connect the lightning charger to the port, it says “USB disk identification failure”. I have tried multiple different phones and cables but each time it says the same thing. Do I have to get a new USB plug??

Is that the same if using an Android phone? It could be sufficient to restart the infotainment unit by press and hold the home button for 10 seconds.
 
I’m sure it’s not this, as you say it has previously worked, but have you got it in the correct USB port in the car?
 
Hi, I’ve just solved this exact issue with my MG4 after disconnecting the 12v battery and holding the home button for 10 seconds to reboot the infotainment system, I was still getting the USB error. Went into setting and ‘reset to factory settings’ and it’s fixed the issue.

I fixed the same issue (disconnecting 12v and holding home for 10 seconds didn’t work) by going into settings and selecting (reset to factory conditions). That’s cleared the USB fault.
