Buying a three year old MG5.....

I'd love a newer MG5, but sadly my budget won't reach that fair. Do the older versions have AEB?

Yup! I have a 2022 Long range that saved me when the van in front didn't have any brake lights...

Hi everyone. Sadly, my 2020 Renault Zoe has been totalled by an elderly driver who had a mini-stroke whilst pulling out of a side road......

I've had a drive in an MG5 EV and enjoyed it (non face-lift) - one of my friend's is head over heels in love with his. Would the MG5 be a worthy choice?

I do 18,000 miles a year and would be looking to keep the car for at least 2.5 years. Would the car survive this? Are they both costly to service etc? Am I setting myself up for a fall buying a car without a warranty?

Would it be worth getting a 3rd party warranty?

With my budget I would be looking at a 3 year old + model with around 30,000 miles on the clock.

Many thanks in advance 👍
Go to youtube and look at some of the |James and Kate videos... I'm on 22,000 miles, 22 plate and no problems to report...

It's like owning a Passat, with batteries instead of an engine... pretty boring, but does everything well...

I have heard on here that Osram Night Breakers really improve lighting performance.
That's good to hear. I did wonder what the lights were like. Are headlight bulbs hard to change?

Back on topic, I've found a local MG5 Exclusive long range for a good price. It's a little bit high on the mileage, but does have a full MG service history, and had a passed it's latest MOT with no advisories.

Sadly, it looks like the driver's seat has a tear in the base (looks like a key has been dragged across it) does anyone know if the base covers are hard to come by? And how much are they?

The car has a few stone chips on it, if I was being picky. What's the best stone chip paint/system for these cars? (it's metallic red)

And there is a few knicks out of the rear bumper. Can you buy rear bumper protectors for these cars?

Many thanks in advance.

Headlights are poor, however depends where you drive if it will affect you. The night breakers have always been mentioned. I am about to move to an MG4 Xpower but that is because I don't need the size and I have secured a good deal. For my first foray into full electric my MG5 pre facelift has been top drawer.

61,000 miles and it's priced at 11k.

The dealer has offered to repair or replace the seat base.
Have a look here on the classifieds of this website, please note this is not mine and I have no more information than is in the ad.

I think you can get better for just a bit more money. Obviously it is your decision and you may be very satisfied with the car. My thoughts are that it may have had a hard life and not been looked after ( apart from servicing) by the previous owner.

Look at Gomev’s advert above - 20,000 less miles - two years motoring.

Worth considering.

Do expect to travel some distance to secure an MG5 as they are not that common.

That mg5 in the classifieds looks great. Shame it's nearly 200 miles away from me 🤣

As I said, you may have to travel.
I always travel if I find an exceptional car at a distance, a few hours is hardly any hardship to get a great car you're probably keeping for years. I don't understand the mindset some people have that they hardly want to travel at all for such a significant purchase and will just take whatever is offered locally, even if it costs much more, or isn't the best.

unsure what it's worth only thinking of selling because its too nice to start putting fishing tackle into it so thinking of downsizing and using daughters 7 seater probably part ex it it's got a 3 year service plan and mot paid for with luscombe leeds a brand new spare wheel.

This one is a much better buy in my opinion - only 13,000 miles.

Yeah, I was just curious as I have a similar car.

Thanks for looking for me. Sadly, 12.5k is way too much for me, as the accident has me about £2k out of pocket - negative equity, and GAP insurance dragging their heels. And I've got to go cheap and local, as the hire car goes back on Friday and I'm working all week, so needed something quick.

And the one I'm getting is a long range as well (wanted the extra safety features)

And yes, I bit the bullet and bought it. They've knocked £500 of the price, agreed to repair the little problems with the bodywork and thrown in 12 months warranty.

And it was such an amazing drive, I had to have it. I was shocked how smooth, quiet and comfortable it was on the test drive. It's better than the iD3 I've had as a loaner
....My mate's been banging on about MG5s for years, but I thought he was having me on! 😁

I bought mine to put fishing tackle in! Hasn't helped put fish on the bank though.😁
